zaelu Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 (edited) Anyone else has this? I updated today this: went to test if any changes to Mig21 module then restarted the game to see what's that about Su-25T training bug and when I clicked back to exit the Su25T training page... BSOD. Boom! First in years. Now starting the DCS via normal shortcut (the one that first run the updater) I get this: Starting directly the DCS exe gets me to a black screen after a bit more time than usual to load the main menu. No mods were active!! I use JSGME only and all were disabled prior to update. After update and checking of MIg21 fixes I used repair for DCS World trying to see if something changes because last time the MIg21 module was really affected by 1215 patch and mot of people had to do a repair for it to work. After the updater said some 13MB were redownloaded and it finished I restarted the game and when doing what described above I got the BSOD. Sadly minidumps were disabled on my machine and BSOD log is missing. Lange_666 Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 Well, i got also a problem with the updater today. Ran the updater but instead of showing me an update screen, it opened another one and then kept on going forever. Could not stop it, not even through Task Manager. Finaly needed to shutdown the comp to get access (no Windows didn't shutdown properly on reboot...?). Reboot was fine but the updater is corrupt. I'm not willing to use the repair function to restore the updater alone, bit worried i need to have to set eveything up from scratch (mostly control settings), not in the mood for this right now. Is there another solution to get a working updater without the repair function because i can still run DCS from the Launcher. Lange_666 Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 Nevermind, found a backup updater through another topic. Unzipped it and ran it. Works OK. Theres a sticky thread with updater commands and a download of the updater by itself. Also when issues like this come up, please attach logs and stuff. (dcs.log, autoupdater log etc) In the event of a blue screen the mini dump file as well. Thanks for feedback! Check the mini dump or error log for windows, if the Network crashed or became unresponsive or a driver related to that, then you would get the eventual halt screen after processes relying on the driver.crash. JSON EOF sounds like the network connection dropped or the downloaded JSON file was corrupted (assuming Unexpected EOF means End Of File). shagrat Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 I experienced some problems with the sweetFX that caused crashes after removing them, using JSGME. If the D3Dsomething.DLL etc. remain in the DCS bin folder it crashes. When disabling sweetFX, make a comparison to the sweetFX zip or JSGME and check all components are deleted from DCS World. It could be one of my SSD drives, the one with SO on it is lately building up fake size and then it starts cleaning itself up and when this happens (last time was 2 months ago) the PC freezes a bit and maybe it was a coincidence with the updater and something went kaboom.I'll keep an eye on it for now.
