Warhog
I am looking for 2 components and I have been all over the internet trying to finding the very best solution without breaking the bank to badly. I'm starting the CMSC but I can't even get my drawing finished until I pin down the displaysal . I've looked at oLed's and character displays and I cannot find anything that fits properly...except those really expensive 5x7 matrix displays which are almost exactly what is used in this panel. Except there $40.00 a piece. That's just a little too much for this panel. So has anyone finished their CMSC panel yet. I would love to see what you did and the displays you used. The other component I'm looking for is for the CDU display. I was anticipating using a typical 3.5" display with VGA output from my graphics card. That would have me installing a second video card since I'm presently out of video ports. And the big question - has anyone found a display they feel is just outstanding for the CDU? agrasyuk
I believe that the 3.5" i used in my RPi CDU attempt is really good fit. its a cheap rear view monitor with composite only input. Anton. bnepethomas
A quick grab with the iPhone. The PRI and SEP buttons are one panel down from the photo, have not yet got the excitement to tear the front panel apart to make the CMSC fit with all buttons (have a 737 to finish before that happens). The project started as a quick and dirty with the MFDs and Simmeters panels. Neat thing about white OLED displays is you simply add a filter to make them any colour you like, and the contrast is amazing. Small correction to my first reply, seller is wide.hk. Warhog
Thanks for pictures Peter. I just may have to do that if I can't get my hands on the displays that fit and look like the original. Firedawg
may have to bite the bullet on this one and use the actual Osram Displays. Duckling
Hi John, not near finished status of either CMSC or CMSP. I use same I2C 2x20 OLED as Peter on my CMSC (I think). Couldn't get the link posted to work but sure it was active on eBay some weeks ago. Display is easy to connect and interface, space efficient, clear contrast but White. Not perfect but close. Got to replace my oldie 2x16 TFT in the CMSP but haven't yet Complements on your build thread, a true inspiration Best /Gus Edit: http://www.ebay.com/itm/IIC-I2C-2002-20x2-OLED-Module-Display-Arduino-Example-/200982177125?hash=item2ecb78a565 Edited November 8, 2015 by Duckling - - - -
agrasyuk
White lettering of the display can be solved easily with green filter. I used acrylic cit to shape. Stage lighting filter gel probably will work as well (and can be cut withoir special tools). Anton. My pit build thread . Firedawg
Only thing about the display you are using is that by itself it is almost as wide(if not wider) than the actual entire panel. I'm just being anal about accuracy ;) Edited November 9, 2015 by Firedawg
Duckling
@Anton, Thanks. I've made some basic testing with green colored plastic with allmost no effect visual change (still White-ish). What material do you suggest ? (got a link ? searching for a material of max 1 mm thick if possible) @Firedawg, strive for perfection isn't a bad thing here but CMSC Panel total width and hight, is true size here. The display is a bit short in hight but horisontal spacing and character placement is very close to the real thing. Lightpanel/faceplate will be adjusted to cover the excess areas and textures adjusted. Agree on OSRAMs whould be ideal but out of scoop for me due due to cost Edited November 9, 2015 by Duckling - - - -
Nikolas_A
Real panels are 146,05mm wide, that display is 96mm wide. Deadman
146,05mm being the metric equivalent of 5.75 inches the max width on a control panel back plate for the left and right consoles. It may not apply to CMSP (EWIP) the center of the MIP that is not that wide.... Nikolas_A
Isn't the CMSP the same as the F-16 EW? 146,05mm being the metric equivalent of 5.75 inches the max width on a control panel back plate for the left and right consoles. Hansolo
Isn't the CMSP the same as the F-16 EW? I think it is but this is the CMSC panel of which IMHO there isn't one of in the F-16. cheers Hans 132nd Virtual Wing homepage & 132nd Virtual Wing YouTube channel My DCS-BIOS sketches & Cockpit Album
LynxDK
The CMSC Is a pain in the Ass, due to the Screens.... I trying difrent OLED's Atm, but its not a perfect fit for any of them. Might have to use the real ones, and i have no idea how to get them connected to an Arduino. Regards. LynxDK [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Instagram

Deadman
Sorry I posted CMSP in stead of CMSC THE F16 uses the EWMU (CMSP) that is a max width of 5.75 inch the F16 has an Advanced Threat Display instead of separate RWR and launch indicator panel. The A10 C has the EWPI (CMSC) mounted above the ADI . Used with a RWR and IP 1310 /ALR https://www.shapeways.com/shops/a-10c-warthog-supplies https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans. Warhog
Sorry I haven't had a chance to chime in there guys but this arthritis knocked the crap out of me for almost a week. But I'm back know. Yes indeed, I think the only way to go for the CMSC is the OSRAM displays. They work so well and it really is an important panel from a visual perspective. Its not like every panel is as expensive as this one tends to be but it does look very nice. These are the only shots I have so far. The display is bright and using the green acrylic dumbs that down a bit. They are definitely worth the money. Please don't look at the dust or the edges as they need some touch up. The panel is a actually rather stunning when its all clean and shiny. @Gus- Thank you. I am assuming you meant my Photobucket site? Regards John W aka WarHog. My Cockpit Build Pictures...
