I responded to Matt's post about the new 70% off sale on Steam. I commented that I prefer to use E-Shop as I read posts in the past about problems with Steam modules conflicting with modules purchased in Eshop.

Some have problems......some don't. I read where the problems have been solved to some extent....

I do not use Steam. I believe if I lived in an area where it was difficult to purchase titles, then using Steam would be an option. But if you live in an area where your internet connection is slow or erratic then that becomes a problem as you must be connected to Steam to use your software purchased through them.

I personally do not want another layer of software just to play games. It adds more personal infringement than its worth to me.

I will wait until the E-Shop has their sale. :D

Buy Module from Steam, Get License Key from Steam. (Not sure if you can do this Without Steam Installed)

You Do NOT have to use Steam after you get your license Key or need steam to be running for that matter, it's the Same Starforce Proactive License Key you would get from ED, GameFly, etc etc.

-------------------

Goto ED Account on digitalcombatsimulator.com, Bind License Key taken from Steam Dialog to ED Account.

Boot ED Distribution DCSW,

Log into Module Manager,

Download New Module.

I've always wondered, what are the advantages of using the steam version? Apart from "keeping everything in the same place", I mean...

Do we get better mp experience in the steam version? Or what else?

I have to ask, in what way was Steam unpleasant? I have heard a lot of reasons for not using Steam but an 'unpleasant' experience is a new one.

I have Steam for A LOT of games, ever since its release.

Back in the beginning it was a little problematic (and because it slowed the release of HL2 made a lot of die hard GF fans angry :P) however these days it works fine.

I have no issue with Steam offering DCS, I think it is a great system and if it brings more players to the DCS universe then good for everyone!

If you buy a title through Steam for DCS you can just use the key outside of it, as already stated. The Steam overlay does not work in DCS either (I think) so it won't log hours etc.

Maybe with EDGE it will, but I guess we will have to wait and see....

This still works? I thought ED took this away? Or was it the other way, you can't use ED keys on steam? Anyways, if this works, i'll most likely buy my last 2 modules i need.
