I thought buttkicker products work with dcs, as best as they can, out of the box? Just plug and play.

If that is not the case, and you need extra software (like simshaker) to get the best out of them, could you avoid buying buttkicker altogether, and buy components for a home made system?

Like buying a multi channel amplifier, and a couple of subwoofer drivers. Mount it to a sim chair, and hook that up to a pc sound card and your software?

EDIT: Ok I googled diy buttkicker/bass-shaker, looks like it's very doable. I'll do my homework, and contribute to your campaign because I would very much like the force feedback from the sim to be on the sim-pit/sim-seat where it actually belongs, leaving the joysticks to be handled by force loading.

Oh, thanks for the explanation.

Out of the box it work with all DCS-generated sounds. So, if you , for example, hearing ATC report it will vibrate too. Not the best way.

Sure, I'm going to create DIY compatible software. All enthusiasts of digital aviation - welcome!

Will it (or the gametrix seats) work online with the most popular servers? I understand some limit exports as anticheat. Similar to how tacview doesnt record automatically for the 104th/ 51st servers.

Yes, it is similar to how tacview doesnt record automatically for the 104th/ 51st servers.

The same problem caused by API absence at DCS World. Just Export.lua script to get telemetry data.

I wonder if ED is able to alter the scripts to allow client side LUA export rather than server.lua side on export.lua.

Or create a new export.lua with restricted exports to allow the Simshaker software to work how envisioned.

Is there a technical explanation of why it isn't possible. Even perhaps if clientexport.lua was created to prevent possible cheats forced ny integrity checks.

Perhaps Kuky could raise this question with ED.

Hi!

Also, I can´t activate more than one soundcard at a time, I guess this is a windows´ related limitation. I assume you will program the software in such a way that eliminates that problem so that more than one sound card can be used at the same time? I also read somewhere that the frequency output on normal soundcards is limited in such a way that very low frequencies are not supported (something like not lower than 20 or 40 Hz). Won´t that be a problem as well or is it software rather than hardware related?

I´m using a USB wireless headset (like many others I suppose) could that be a problem?

Cheers!

Geert

Hi Mate,

I use Virtual Audio Cable (VAC) software and run my USB Headset, Desktop speakers plugged into Toslink connection from PC and the Buttkicker from the rear audio jack on the PC and all runs no issue.

I purchased VAC a few years ago wasn't expensive.

Here is the link

http://software.muzychenko.net/eng/vac.htm __________________

Easy setup procedure

This is what I found on the net.

I noticed a lot of gamers, like myself, use VAC to cast stereo mix and microphone into a single output. I have found a much easier way to start/stop VAC with the click of an icon on your desktop. I didn't know VAC had command line switches until recently, but this works wonderfully and very conveniently. Here's what to do:

VAC Start

Open notepad, paste this code and save as "VAC Start.bat":

Code:

start /min "audiorepeater_ks" "%programfiles%\Virtual Audio Cable\audiorepeater_ks.exe" /Input: "Realtek HD Audio Mic input" /Output: "Virtual Cable 1" /BufferMs:100 /Autostart

start /min "audiorepeater_ks" "%programfiles%\Virtual Audio Cable\audiorepeater_ks.exe" /Input: "Realtek HD Audio Stereo input" /Output: "Virtual Cable 1" /BufferMs:100 /Autostart

This batch file will start two audio repeaters, set your inputs Stereo Mix and Microphone as Virtual Cable 1 output, then minimize to the task tray and auto start. If all goes well, you should have two repeaters looking like this:

Note: If you have different inputs than what I have above, you will have to change the /Input switch to work with your sound card inputs.

VAC Stop

Open notepad, paste this code and save as "VAC Stop.bat":

Code:

taskkill /im "audiorepeater_ks.exe"

This batch file will simply close both audio repeaters.

Hi AussiM8,

Thnks for explaining, I read about it previously though and I don´t need it right now, not using any bass shakers or stuff like that. It would be better offcourse when we shouldn´t need another programm just to make this happen, I hope / assume that Andre could make something that will work out of the box?

Andre, would it also be possible to use USB in stead of audio jack and make a device (possibly by using some arduino stuff/DCS bios) and create something like that BFF shaker? So not just a bass shaker thing but something like this

could that be done without the need for any BFF shaker card, just software, arduino and motor control? Possibly even to combine with DCS-bios? and more importantly, would it even make sense?

Just wondering...I don´t have any off that stuff, only learning (slowly) about Arduino.

Cheers,

Geert

In this project (if we reach our fundrise goal) I'm going to use audio jack output and separate sound card as base (out of the box) solution. If you really need USB-output and BFF-like stuff or Arduino it might be another project.

I might not use buttkickers ever, however your initiative as well as the effort estimation in the indiegogo campaign made me add my small contribution too.

Keep going Andre and good luck!
