Hey Community,

Need some advise or help with buying new monitor... I want a 27" gaming monitor, but a really in doubt about what you go for my budget is in US $ 300-400..

The only focus area i have been looking at has been response time on 1-2 sec.

These are some possibilities i've have seen:

Acer 27" G277HU

Philips 27" P-line 273P3LPHEB

AOC 27" LED E2752VQ

Acer 27" LED Predator XB270H

Any advise or other suggestions are more than welcome, my only demand for the monitor is its a 27" and good for gaming...

Best regards,

Mo'

Don't get too caught up in response time, unless you are using it for professional first person shooters. I can't tell the difference between anything below 6-7ms response time (although my eyes are getting old and are often connected to a brain that's a bit drunk). Also different manufacturers calculate response time differently so you are not necessarily comparing apple to apples. I would go for WHQD and if colours are very important for you, see if you can stretch the budget to an IPS screen. I went 32", WHQD and now it's hard to look at 27" screens, but you get used to whatever you have after a while. Good luck and remember, read many reviews of each screen to get a good idea of the pros and cons, look out for your own conformation bias, but whatever screen you get you will only notice the difference for the first couple of weeks then your perception will fill in/gloss over most problems.

I agree with Rangi but I would recommend going bigger if you can! It really helps in spotting targets IMO.

I use a 47" LG HDTV. The picture looks great and the cockpits are almost 1:1. Some folks are looking at the 4k screens but you need a good video card to pump out that many pixels.

I can't imagine playing DCS on anything smaller now. Once you go big you will never go back.

Good luck and I hope you find a monitor that works for you.

Hmm what about the curved monitors from Samsung...?

And thanks for the replies, just afraid finding a bigger is too pricey...

I agree with the above posts. I did quite a bit of research on monitors before I bought mine and the 1-2ms response time thing is a bust. Don't waste your money.

in my opinion seek for an ips ultrawide monitor

you gonna love it!

bigger is not always better unless you willing to pay for it

i replace my old 24" led monitor with an 29" ips ultrawide monitor and i love it:)

in terms of gaming it justs rocks!!!

Maybe on the pricey side, I just purchased a Benq XL2730Z for $600.

So far I love it, I recommend it or any thing that is at least 27'' and 1440p or higher. You will NOT regret it.

I don't want to hijack this thread in anyway, Still want to hear what people are using (I'm using a 21" screen @ 1920x1050) but what kind of pixels are you guys pushing out as well? Especially you ultra wide screen guys.

I had a a 39in flat screen but it isn't perfectly 16:9. I would lose the image in the corners on 1920x1080. But it would fit 1650x1050 (16:10 aspect) just fine. Maybe i should just go back to that in the mean time.

Get a TV FHD for gaming. Monitors are expensive and buying anything under 32" for gaming -and mostly for simming- is a waste of money. Period.

My rig specs:

Intel Core i7 4770 @3.4Ghz // Corsair 16GB DDR3 // MoBo Asus Z87K // HDD 1TB 7200RPM // eVGA Nvidia GTX 760GT 2GB DDR5 // LG 3D 47" 1920x1080 // Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS // Saitek Combat Pro Pedals // Thrustmaster MFD Cougar pack // PS3 Eye + FTNOIR
