ФрогФут Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Carrier Ops... Maximum vertical velocity during touchdown for almost empty F-5E is less, than normal for carrier landing. You will get all your gear all over the deck before the hook is torn off, because the structure is not considered for such longitudinal G-loads. Agremont Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 That cockpit is looking great. Busy, but I quite like that.
Wizz Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Next to the FA/18C (and Hormuz map), I am the most excited about the F-5E! It will be great to step into a fantastically able and accomplished aircraft that we all know Belsimtek will treat properly! Bring it on! :)

If I am not mistaken I believe some of the staff were once ED staff members that branched off. So you can count on proper treatment. :) Intel i5-9600K @ 3.7GHz; Gigabyte Z370XP SLI Mobo; G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 64GB (4 x 16GB) 288-Pin DDR4 GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 4080 16GB 256-Bit GDDR6; Thermaltake Water 3.0 Certified Liquid Cooling System Windows 11 Professional HP Reverb G2 /TrackIR 5 in case VR dies; Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog w/ Thrustmaster T-Flight Rudder Pedals

So you can count on proper treatment. :) I hope it's the same treatment of L-39 and FA-18c. The L-39 and the FA-18c aircraft are the best treatment I've ever seen 3D on the DCS. I hope that is equal to the F-5E. |Motherboard|: Asus TUF Gaming X570-PLUS, |WaterCooler|: Corsair H115i Pro, |CPU|: AMD Ryzen 7 3800X, |RAM|: Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB 3200MHz DDR4, |SSD|: Kingston A2000 500GB M.2 NVMe, |SSD|: Kingston 2.5´ 480GB UV400 SATA III, |SSHD|: Seagate Híbrido 2TB 7200RPM SATA III, |GPU|: MSI Gaming 980Ti, |Monitor|: LG UltraWide 34UM68, |Joystick 1|: Thrustmaster Hotas Warthog, |Joystick 2|: T.Flight Rudder Pedals, |Head Motion|: TrackIr 5.

I've landed the MiG-15 on the carrier, are you saying i cannot make it in the f-5 even if the hook works?
Sweep Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 I bet you'll fall through the carrier. Maybe one day you'll fall into the hangar bay so you can repair your gear! :megalol: Lord of Salt
Tirak Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 I've landed the MiG-15 on the carrier, are you saying i cannot make it in the f-5 even if the hook works? He's saying the hook doesn't matter because with an F-5, your landing speed for a carrier to be able to actually see it over that long needle nose would be so high, you'd rip off your gear first. Though even if you did manage it, the hook would rip off your aircraft anyway since it's not reinforced like the tailhook on a carrier aircraft. The hook is meant for runway arrestor gear, which inflicts significantly less g loads on the aircraft it's trying to slow down since it still has a whole runway to slow you down, think of it like a drag chute you don't carry with you.

Yes but none of that will be modeled in DCS I suspect, besides the long nose. And challenge accepted on at least getting wheels on the deck.

DayGlow Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 (edited) Although I look forward to the F-5, I'm a little wary as it seems Belsimtek is very good at starting projects they don't seem to finish them. I'm still waiting for training missions and campaigns on the other projects I've bought and years later they are still considered beta. I'm still waiting for training missions and campaigns on the ornery porridge I've bought and years later they are still considered beta. yeah F86F is still missing 750 pound m117 bombs from its loadout ( m117s are already developed content withinin game, and will be available for the F5E module) as well as a mk7 tactical nuke. The labs system for toss bombing is just not practical for non nuclear bombs. mattebubben Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 Does anyone know what kind of countermeasures the F-5E-3 Will have?.
Custard Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 Does anyone know what kind of countermeasures the F-5E-3 Will have?. It has flare & chaff dispensers on the fuselage afaik, I don't know if can dispense them individually or if it has to drop flare + chaff as a bundle like the MiG-21. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

ED Team cofcorpse Posted February 2, 2016 ED Team Posted February 2, 2016 Does anyone know what kind of countermeasures the F-5E-3 Will have?. The right answer is: AN/ALE-40(V). IIRC the same dispenser as A-10C has, but differnet variant. You can dispense chaff and flare individually and together. CMDS (Countermeasures Dispensing System) has several programs for dispensing, which you can choose before flight (control panel is installed under fuselage). We are currently designing the way how the program will be chosen.
ThorBrasil Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 Cofcorpse the version of the 3D model is on the DCS 2.0 is with digital radios. The final version won't have these radios? ED Team cofcorpse Posted February 2, 2016 ED Team Posted February 2, 2016 The final version won't have these radios? Yes, you are correct. We will have AN/ARC-164 UHF radio. We will correct external model textures. Thank you! 1

mattebubben Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 has any decision been made when it comes to what Aim-9 Variants will be Available?
Custard Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 (edited) has any decision been made when it comes to what Aim-9 Variants will be Available? BST's website mentions the P & B, but I'd love me some AIM-9J & AIM-9P4 (if it can fire it of course) too personally. Edited February 6, 2016 by Custard [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
mattebubben Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 if it can fire any P it should be able to fire all P variants (including P4 and P5 all aspect missiles) and since the P is based of the J i see no problem there either. Im just really hoping they will have either a P4 or a P5 as options. (together with rear aspect variants like Aim-9B,J and P3) I hope for atleast one newer aim 9 (p4 or p5 both should be compatible) one old being the Aim-9B and one in the middile (either the aim-9J or a Rear aspect P)
Guitrz Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 What about the 4 radar operation modes? Could someone elaborate a bit on them? And how does the AIM-9s benefit from it?
