Naaaaah!

There is enough choppers already! ;)

What do you mean? There is just one attack helicopter, currently. Plus two Utility... vs. 2-3 Attack planes, 4 Fighter Jets (more announced), 3 Trainers and 3 WW II Fighters (more announced).

Choppers 3 vs. planes 11 to 12, without things planned in the near future.

We need more choppers! ;)

well we have 2 more choppers on the way and one of them being VERY soon (week or 2 at most)

And they are both Anti-Tank / Utillity choppers.

First the Gazelle and then 2 variants of the BO 105 (Bo 105 PAH with 6x Hot missiles and the Swedish HKP 9 variant armed with 4 Tow missiles)

Both of whom use AT Missiles (HOT-2/3 in the case of the gazelle and the HOT or TOW in case of the BO-105)

and other weapons like gun/rocket pods will come later on.

The Gazelle even had a video come out yesterday about the Weapon/camera usage.

So that increases the number of choppers from 3 to 5 (or 6 if you want to count both of the BO 105 variants)

Hmm, variants... fighter jets including variants: Su-27, Su-33, MiG-29, MiG-29S, MiG-21, Mirage 2000C, near release F-5E. F/A-18C planned. 8

Attack planes: A-10C, A-10A, Su-25, Su-25T. 4

Trainers including variants: LZ-39, LZ-39ZA, Hawk, Aviojet C-101EB, C-101CC. 5

WW II warbirds: P-51D, TF-51D, FW-190D9, Bf. 109 K4. Spitfire, P-40F, P-47D planned. 7

Planes: 24 vs. 6 Choppers including planned and variants? :D

Then it is even 4 to 1 in favor of planes...

ewwww

He even counted "not released" in his post.

In my first comparison I was counting only EFM FC3 planes, as they are the most commonly flown...:D

EDIT ...and without FC3 at all, it is still 17 planes vs. 6 choppers including planned releases! More than 2 to 1

And still only 1 attack helicopter, the Ka-50 from 2008! And before someone claims the Gazelle is an attack chopper, if you claim that then I'm going to claim the Hawk T.1A, L-39C and L-39ZA are 4th generation multi-role fighters. It's no less silly of a claim.

eh even though its of ww2 vintage( almost) misseed ww2 barely, the TF-51 were recon aircraft, but realistically its pretty much a trainer in dcs, its got 2 seats and its entirely unarmed. it fulfills no combat role.

I just stated there were two more helicopters on the way and one of them being very very close (1-2 weeks most likely)

Dont get why you had to respond to me like that...

I never stated that there were to many helicopters or disputed the fact that there are alot more airplanes then there are helicopters...

L-39ZA is light attack plane not a trainer

L-39ZA is light attack plane not a trainer

Well it probably counts as both =P.

It still has the twin controls so its able to do both duties.

But its specialized to do the Attack role

(And being a more combat oriented aircraft then the other L-39 variants)

But it was still able to do the Training role.

And its more important training role was weapons training (as it was much better suited to this then the Normal L-39 was)

So while it was a Light attack variant it was still designed to be able to do the training role aswell.

Just like a Two seater F-16B/D or F-18B/D is not a trainer as its still able to do its primary task the L-39ZA did not stop being a trainer as it was still able to do that just as well as the other L-39 variants.

No offense meant... Just pointing out, that we have more than double the amount of planes than helicopters ;)

I like any new DCS module, the more the better.

But if Belsimtek needs a hint on what to do next, I would ask for the Cobra or Hind, as well. :D

Well i think we should probably be happy we as many choppers that we have (and the additions that we will get soon)

Since DCS is primarily about the aircraft so i could just as easily see this game without the Helicopters and the Combined arms DLC.

And im all for having more helicopters especially something like a Hind Cobra or Apache.

But that does not mean i think devs like Belsimtek should discontinue all aircraft and only make helicopters.

As it Belsimtek has made two helicopters and 2 aircraft and now there is a third airplane on the way.

Im pretty sure we will be seeing more helicopters in the future.

And now we have Polychop who has two helicopters in the works and who have also hinted about a possible Eurocopter Tiger.

They have also talked about airplanes (i think they are working on a HO 229)

but they seem very interested in helicopters as well so i think we are bound to get more helicopters from them aswell.

Im confident that a helicopter is likely next (after the F-5E) for belsimtek.

And with the Two seater functionality appearing in the game i think there is no longer any significant reasons why a cobra or hind could not be made.

So i think its very likely that they are looking into making atleast one of those (or a apache)

Nobody said discontinue the F-5E or other planes in the future ... Just, that they had stopped working on the Cobra in favor of the MiG-28... err, F-5E was a bit strange.

I guess everybody is more or less happy about any addition to the DCS World.

The whole DigitalCombatSimulator kicked pretty much off with the DCS: Black Shark (Helicopter), the next aircraft (DCS: A-10C Warthog) had the later "Combined Arms" features integrated in Beta 2, as US armed forces used the original simulator for JTAC trainings (it even had the Tactical Commander option, but it had to be redone from scratch, due to conflicting contracts with the military... That's why Combined Arms came to DCS.

First module from Belsimtek was the UH-1H Huey (a chopper and it was the best helicopter flight model I've seen outside real military grade simulators), and next the Mi-8... The Mirage actually is the first Jet to DCS standard, yet it was always the idea of an integrated battlefield with focus on flight simulaton, but not planes first.

I would just like Belsimtek, to pick up the Cobra after F-5E/MiG-28 as an F-14 counterpart and finish the bad buddy of the Huey, before starting new jets...

Or a modern fighter jet, a successor to the F-5, maybe an F-16?! :D

Lets brake this down ZA Light Attack but perform training yes but was a made be a Light attack

the SU-27 30mm holds 150 rounds the Mig-21 with 23mm holds 250 rounds the Mig-23 and 27 same as the Mig-21 the L-39 carrys the same cannon as the 21 and 23 and 27 and carrying same 150 round box as the Su-27 becuase all big cannons

Now look at the 4 wing stations the F-18A/B/C/D has 4 stations and A-6 had 4 Stations and the A-4 and the A-7 and yes carry more bombs the L-39ZA carrys 4 stations for do ground attack work similer but Light attack plane do similer CAS and FAC many many many dutys.

Even RTAF has 5 squadrons of L-39ZA as there ground Attack / CAS support for this role not used as trainers same in Syria air force and Czech Republic.

plane has far more uses then people think then keep thinking ZA is a trainer. the L-39C is 100% trainer through an through. :) my lecture on that subject. :book:

That's all I'm asking for too. I want 2 mainstay attack choppers, one western, one eastern and then they can go back to making whatever else. The only reason I'm so forgiving on the F-5E is because it just happens to be #1 on my fixed wing wishlist, since it's the perfect opponent for the MiG-21Bis.

As for jet fighters in general, we're fast approaching the point where I'm going to stop buying them. I want a certain level of variety in my aircraft purchases and between the F-5E, Mirage 2000C, F-18C and AV-8B (mostly due to uniqueness of the airframe), that variety will be filled on the western side. I'd still be open to a few eastern fighters to go with them, but only 2-3.

Right! ...why am I always forgetting the MiG-21.

wasnt the a10c the first fidelty jet to dcs standards?:megalol:

3rd party wise, the F86 released prior to the mig21. no? ( if memory serves me right)

if anything m2000c can be considered the first modern ( relatively) 4th generation Jet fighter to make it into DCS, that wasnt FC3 type level, but full fidelity.

A10c was a modern module but its a subsonic ground attacker.

the F5E is very much needed so mig21bis has a opponent of similar capabilties, as an added bonus it make nice as a "Mig28" aggressor unit aginast leathernecks F14 tomcats.

Initially i wasnt really interested in it thiking to myslef Awww, why no F4 phantom yet, but understanding as multicrew is complex, and as a capability, a recent addition. As i read up more on its capabilities, and comparisons to the Mig21bis, which is its intended opponent the F5, ive had a change of opinion. It has already started to grow on me, even though its not out yet. :P

So i looking forward to buying the F5E.

Remember, there probably are reasons for their choises..it might not only be a "i want to make this now" that decides what comes first :)

Suggesting that we know better what they should do is a lie..

Im happy that we are getting an F-5 along with future helicopters too
