hi everyone,

I would like to say that many times players prefers stacking in blue team for a very simple reason: russian awacs speaks... russian. And honestly thats very annoying to not get info in english. why can't we have an option to turn on english for russian awacs? It would help a lot the balancing.

While I don't agree with what seems like an oversimplification of the issue, I agree that it could be a factor in choosing a faction for some people.

However, the blue side has generally attracted more players ; in sessions with or without awacs.

For me, it feels like it's a player fantasy thing ; like the cat and dog person test.

I've played CAP on both side and really had different feelings ; more a hunter vide on red and more a protector one on blue.

The aggressor fantasy, often attached, to red just doesn't agree with everyone.

To come back to your point, I agree that having an awacs language option would be nice but it sadly not in my hands ; it's a task for ED.

What could be in my hands is to make both awacs speak english because it's still more accessible for my players than russian.

So far, even an E3 awacs on red side will speak russian but I will to dig deeper.

I'll keep you posted

Theres an option for subtitle though, so it doesnt really matter if the AWACS speaks russian or english. Its under options>audio

It's still more comfortable to hear and understand the AWACS calls especially when you are already stressing in your aircrafts :)

A big factor for me for wanting to fly blue especially with primitive fighters (useless radars or none at all) is not the language of the awacs but the Units of measure (meters/km) that the calls are made with. Especially if my aircraft is in native language of freedom units. (Feet/nm) But REDFOR is my favorite to fly helicopters on

[sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]1000 miles of road will take you around town, a 1000 feet of runway can take you around the world...unless your in a Huey, you can go anywhere with no runway in a Huey!

The editor didn't lemme do it but I've hacked some stuff, move the UK country from blue to red coalition in my map, made the A-50 aircraft available for UK in DCS and so now...

... I can have a red UK A50 AWACS speaking English and using your obsolete-game-of-thrones imperial units

So I guess that in the next version of the map, the Brexit will happen on Open Conflict too :megalol:

Thanks for taking in consideration this aspect on the server.

Is it already implemented now? I tried the red side and awacs still talks russian.

It sounds great, thanks for that

By the way, since the server is so popular on dcs, why not having its own forum? Like "SMF" forum it should be very nice. Here is an example:

So a couple of Huey pilots and myself ran into the issue the other day where if you spawned on the blue team at the FARP as one of the medic Hueys, you were unable to connect ground power. Switching to the US DOS Huey I was able to connect, and switching to another spawn location I was able to connect. Due to the cold we were unable to complete start-up without it. I'll be getting on today to check this, and editing the post with the results.

Ok thanks for the report.

When you have a bug like this, a screenshot of the F10 map zoomed on the FOB can also be useful.

It would allow me to see if the ground power is too far from your pad or has been accidentally destroyed during the session.

Contrary to airports, FARP saldy needs static objects nearby to work (tent, fuel, ammo and power)

Sometimes, a pad is too far from one of this object (for ground power, I think it's a truck) or one of this object has been destroyed somehow (I can't make them immortal)

A screen will help me know which case are we talking about to properly fix it

Thanks

Thanks for the heads up. I'm trying to get on now to test it but because your mission is so well made the server is full again  So now I'm twiddling my thumbs in wait :pilotfly:

Edit: My apologies for jumping the gun. Got on, jumped in the first Blue Medic slot for the Huey and was immediately able to connect. Appears to have been a specific session issue. Thanks though!

Second Edit: Okay I jumped the gun again. I was in the wrong slit. Whoops. Now that I'm actually back in the Farp Medic Huey I'm not able to connect ground power. Will attach screen shot in separate posts.

Cold weather battery start for Huey

Over head panel generator on and cover closed, throttle twist lock out of detent to idle, battery on, starter depress, at 15% master fuel switch on hold starter til 50%.

After 50% release starter select inverter on.

Then proceed with everything else as you would in a normal start. It is important to not turn on any cockpit or exterior lights and make sure the transition is quick from battery being turned on to engaging starter. This will ensure maximum cranking power (Gigitty) from the battery and prevent a flooded/hot start with slow spool up of the turbine.

You also will only have about 1 shot or else you will need ground power after draining the battery on an unsuccessful attempt.

Good luck!

Alright, I'll try that too, thanks.

Gas Producer stalls at 10%. Same thing as before without ground power. Still unable to use ground power for the Medic slots in the FARP.

I am like John Snow when it comes to helicopters : I know nothing.

I don't pilot them and don't know how to pilot them.

I've created the delivery/rescue/explosive systems without being capable of doing or testing them

This is what I'm seeing on the map for the medic Huey.

Yep, you should be close enough from all the installations ; especially the M818 truck.

Not sure what's happening ; are you sure you do the right startup procedure?

I'm not familiar with the cold battery start, trying to look into it. Thing I'm concerned about most is the Ground Power. Not sure why that won't connect. I'll do the same exact thing in the other helos and it'll connect, but not the medics. I'll play around with it some more and see what I can figure out.

how to record avi with misson editor

Hi everyone,

After multiple try and forums reading I post here with hope to have an answer to my question: how can I record a video from an openConflict track session without using fraps or similar real time capture?

What i tried until now is using the record avi option from the mission editor, but for some reason it stay on pause. I also tried to change the begin time a bit further but the result is still the same.

What am i missing here? can you tell me how you export your video?

thanks for your answers!

I think the replay will be paused/empty just for a bit until the moment in the replay where you stopped loading and/or joined your unit.

You can see the status of the replay in the status bar in F10 or any external view like F2.

Check your control and try to unpause the replay if it's actually paused or accelerate the recording until you spawn.

However, in my experience, DCS replay feature will not work or work poorly with big missions like in Open Confclit or other servers.

At some point, the replay will diverge from what actually happened.

For capturing your stories on any server, it's better to use shadowplay, OBS or fraps and record as you play or at least, that's what I do.

Alright. The avi recorder in game editor looks to be really ****ed up. It generates huge file size for only few minutes video (around 30Go and kept going if I don't stop it) and it only record the map view (F10) with no activities.

So yes i will forget it and use shadow play. Actually when i try it to manually record (using ctrl+F9) it says it can only works with full screen game. The fact is i am in full screen... What i am missing now?
