Cantiga Posted September 19, 2015 Posted September 19, 2015 This seems to be a recurring problem. At the risk of confusing everyone even more, I'm going to provide an alternate way of thinking about stuff: SFM = SFM AFM = EDFM1 AFM+ = EDFM2 PFM = EDFM3 EFM = XFM Now with terms like that you only have to worry about three things: SFM I would call the simple flight model, because it is mainly used for AI planes. EDFM would be a flight model made by Eagle Dynamics, and a higher number means it is better. XFM is a flight model made by eXternal parties (third parties). It is not a standard of quality; it just means ED didn't make it. Now, let me know if that helps or if I just confused you more. (I used XFM instead of EFM so that it isn't too close to EDFM since that would also be confusing.) So... FMs made by 3rd party devs(except Belsimtek) defined as "EFM", not AFM or PFM?
NeilWillis Posted September 19, 2015 Posted September 19, 2015 Correct. The problem is that anything so complex as aerodynamic modelling cannot be pinned down in precise terms because there are just so many variables, and naturally different aircraft have entirely different characteristics, so defining exactly how complex or simple a module's algorythms are would take endless analysis, and ED choose not to try and pin down any definitions for modules they don't design themselves. SFM is easy, it is a very cut down model. AFM and PFM are definitions ED give to their own work. PFM is currently the highest level of modelling. EFM - external flight modelling - assumed to be above SFM, pitched at the level of AFM, but could equally be PFM, but the exact level of accuracy is really indefinable. It is just a convenient box to put all the 3rd party dev's work into without being specific beyond the fact that it isn't SFM.
Cantiga Posted September 19, 2015 Posted September 19, 2015 Okay, now totally I got it. Thanks guys. I can hardly wait to fly this....:joystick:

Tirak Posted September 19, 2015 Posted September 19, 2015 I look forward to following the development over the next few months, but I won't be preordering. I've seen this flight model game play out twice before and I'm not about to play it again here. Maybe RAZBAM is different, but I'm not up to roll the dice anymore on this. Best of luck, and when the flight model is done I'll take another look. Cheers.
Azrayen Posted September 19, 2015 Posted September 19, 2015 Is it possible to change the laser frequency for the GBU-12 from the cockpit or do we have only the default frequency 1688? No change possible from the cockpit. Don't know if 1688 is always used; I can imagine a setting briefed pre-take off (which could translate in DCS as a loadout option)
Aginor Posted September 19, 2015 Posted September 19, 2015 Either that or perhaps a special command to set the codes that only works on the ground. So you can set the code on the ground before takeoff after re-arming. DCSW weapons cheat sheet speed cheat sheet

However, when I did get them, I knew that I'd be getting an SFM initially. With the M2000 I have to say I'm a bit confused; do we know exactly what we're getting with the M2000? Extremely basic SFM, advanced flight model, or somewhere in between?
jojo Posted September 19, 2015 Posted September 19, 2015 Is it possible to change the laser frequency for the GBU-12 from the cockpit or do we have only the default frequency 1688? In real laser code is set on the bomb itself. So you can't change bomb code from the cockpit. You can only change the laser code of the pod...when you have one. M2000C won't have pod like the real one. Real M2000C RDI can't use AG missiles, the best are GBU-XX with external designation, being ground FAC or other airplane. Mirage fanatic ! zaelu Posted September 19, 2015 Posted September 19, 2015 Yet people were willing to pay roughly the same price for other planes with less avionics systems to model.[...] Judging after the way the development goes for the said planes I'd say not so many people. ~500 people posting "proud owner" on these forums look like something big but, means little when the accountant draws the line. This is why I am a bit worried about this price choice by RAZBAM. Mirage 2000 has the whole potential to be a hit like Mig21 but as with any product... it doesn't matter how good it is or how much time and how many people worked on it... if the price is bad... it won't sell well. I hope they thought this thoroughly not by "feel". Anyway. I bought this yesterday because I like this plane, I like the french people (heh... I live now here :P ) and (although I don't have any Razbam FSX products) the guys from the team look like they work hard to bring this module fast to DCS. I wish them the same success as Mig21 had! XeNoise Posted September 19, 2015 Posted September 19, 2015 How it is with this bird, do i need to adjust the trim everytime like with the su-27 or is it like the f-15?
Bidartarra Posted September 19, 2015 Posted September 19, 2015 How it is with this bird, do i need to adjust the trim everytime like with the su-27 or is it like the f-15? To take with a pinch of salt, but i think you don't trim, the Flight computer does it for you. Ex : You pull to 10° up, stick back to center, plane keeps 10° Or is it from the -5 onwards?

Stickshaker Posted September 19, 2015 Posted September 19, 2015 This definitely looks like a very nice plane. Will it have a dragchute? The FSX version does not have one, which I find annoying, even if you don't need it very often.
Azrayen Posted September 19, 2015 Posted September 19, 2015 Good question. For what it's worth, IRL there is a choice to make: you can either load the brake-chute or the arrestor hook. Both systems are intended for emergency situation only. The choice depends on the airfields you plan to use, with the following rule: - airfield(s) equipped with arrestor wires => hook - airfield(s) not equipped with arrestor wires => brake chute

Azrayen Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 It's a tiny aircraft ;) In fact, the default choice is obviously the brake chute. The hook is an option. Another option is a supplementary container for "Eclair" (the flares system), it was used during the Gulf war, I think initially it was a field mod/urgent operation mod, but later more "officially" designed. ++ Az'
