Hi I am using a Nividia 970 GTX and have all settings in the game on their highest settings. The trees look different inside the cockpit compared to externally. I've posted 2 screenshots and they are just seconds apart and you can see the difference. I find the tree's don't look as nice inside the cockpit and wondering if anyone knows why they look so different? Thanks

KEULE Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 (edited) Trees look artificial Since last update (1.5.1, made yesterday) trees are looking somewhat artificialy set on the ground and showing up and disappearing with zoom level. I am unsure if this is supposed to be due to my settings or a bug? In addition loading times seems to be longer than before. Thanks for a short reply in advance. nigelmcelwee Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Just a quick question, since I am at work. Does this happen only when fog is "enabled" on the mission? I create a number of missions for myself but I also leave the fog enabled option unchecked. Since I am at work I cant test this but I was curious if someone could check that and see if the fog option is unchecked does it still happen? It could be a quick work around for our custom missions until ED can get it fixed. derodo Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Same here. Thought it was my fault (I played a bit with the tree visibility range) but it seems it was tha latest patch. It only happens on some trees though...most of them, but not all of them (I'm attaching a scrennshot just in case). With the F2 view everything is just fine (gorgeus I'd say :)

I zoomed in while over-flying and they seem much more 3-dimensional than the other trees in the Black Sea map. Is this part of the bug or is ED integrating a new tree model for this map? Has anyone else noticed the same? I can only tell when flying directly overhead. Regular trees look like a paper cut-outs in a cruciate configuration (been that way for me since I started with DCS), these new trees seem to look more like real trees and they happen to be the ones that are visible at distance. The other "legacy trees" are not behaving normally. Thoughts? -Nick

I want to ask what was reported? As I can see that's not a tree problem. This has something to do with the overall haze/fog. All objects lost the "3D" vision. The trees in the pictures are the only one which are looking like in the old version (1.2.6) where all the objects have a "3D" look. Right now there is no big difference anymore from objects like buildings and trees and the background. Looks really like a flat picture. This problem is there since 1.5.0 and now it's much more visibile with 1.5.1. So if the report is about trees, then this is not the real problem I think! I guess that DCS 1.5.x mixes the old with the new, which is a decent compromise for now, however DCS 2.0 with NTTR will bring us all new assets made fore EDGE only, with a much better result - as we all saw from the various screenshots and videos.
