Beeroshima Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 So, maybe it's me, but I didn't realize the limited amount of Airports and their close proximity to one another in NTTR. It seems like it will considerably limit the options for air to air in multiplayer. Am I missing something or when you take off will you already be in the sights of the opposition?

Beeroshima Posted December 1, 2015 Author Posted December 1, 2015 Yeah, i understand how that works, but asking for that kind of casual organization to just spontaneously happen from casual multiplayer is a pretty big ask.
gospadin Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 (edited) Groom Lake to Nellis is 80.6 miles, runway center to runway center. This should be sufficient for typical red versus blue multiplayer PVP servers. With A2G converging on a 3rd location to the east or west, I think this map has potential. They've also stated they'll be implementing some of the smaller airfields as well, we can place FARPs for some purposes, and there's always air starts, though nobody likes those since it gets a bit quake-ish. Edit: You could also setup a killzone between creech and nellis, and force players to go "around" it, to mitigate the short travel distances. Vectury Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 That would be a nice addition. The NTTR map is indeed more limited, especially compared to the caucasus map, but it does have some potential for interesting missions. jcbak Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 IMHO the NTTR map is fantastic and a job well done by ED. I think it's real use is for training, which isn't a bad thing by any stretch. I'm not just referring to those new to DCS or flight sims (imagine back to when you first started......you begin flight training, weapons deployment, refueling, etc. at NTTR....knowing you are going to use the skills you develop in a combat theatre later on). When the Mirage is released, I plan on doing all training on the aircraft at NTTR before taking it to the Black Sea. I happen to enjoy practice/training....maybe because I need it more than most. The Strait of Hormuz map is what I'm really waiting for.
