I have been getting this issue with beta 1.5. it does not matter if latest or the initial release. this does not happen in 1.2. it happens when i load a mission, most of the time when the splash screen is up and the loading bar is at 100%, rarely i actually get into the 3d world and then it happens after a few seconds. the screen freezes and eventually i get the spinning icon and then the message DCS is not responding.

I am running win7 x64, ATI R9 fury nano. i have tried latest 15.11 and 15.11.1 beta drivers. the below is a copy of the error window more details message.

am running the game as administrator. logs attached. two game crashes one after the other.

I have done a little more testing tonight. I have been reviewing other threads with similar issues but none of the solutions that worked for others seem to match what i am experiencing. this does seem related to the graphics settings though. here are additional tests i have done.

1. turned off antivirus. no difference.

2. removed the DCS.openbeta folder from Saved Games. this made some difference as the graphics setting were reset to default. everything seems fine then, but i really do not want to play the game in a 1280x768 window on a 2560x1440 monitor.

3. i started working on the graphics settings, changing one thing at a time. i worked up to my preferred resolution, 3200x1800 virtual super resolution. that worked fine.

4. i then set the preset to medium, that works fine.

5. i then set the preset to high, and the game started crashing either just before entering the 3d world (before you can hit fly - still on loading screen) or within a few seconds of entering the 3d world after hitting fly.

6. i then used the medium preset and changed one setting at a time. it turns out it is either of two settings that cause the issue i am seeing: textures and water. when either is set to high, the game locks with the symptoms in the first post. so i can use 3200x1800 with the high preset as long as i set textures and water to medium.

if i can do more testing to gather more data, let me know. i do run other games with this virtual super resolution and high settings with no issues.

i CAN change to an NVIDIA card to test as well if that data would be useful. i prefer not to (key activations) but i can. i cannot test in 2.0 as i do not have nttr.

is this being looked at? i thought i would have a reply by now.

thx!

Apologies for not replying, I am sure the ED team have taken a look at the logs, as I do not own a ATI R9 fury nano I am unable to test if this issue myself.

Other ATI users have had more luck with the crimson drivers or using the dlls dropped into dcs from earlier versions, not sure if that is relevant to your issue though.

BIGNEWY,

Thx. Is it normal to just post and not really hear anything since we are referred here as the official way to report problems? No biggie if it is, but how do we ensure it is being looked at? I AM willing to do whatever testing as stated and requested, I already put a couple hours into it. Conversely, if it is just me tell me and I will go away! ;)

The other thread does not apply, unless different ATI cards are effected in different ways. But I AM running the latest Crimson drivers anyway as stated (15.11 is Crimson).

I CAN try a different ATI card, or I can try GTX as well. But befoire I do I would like to know if I will have to deactivate and reactivate my licenses.

MoGas,

I am not sure, I will have to check. it is whatever the default high settings gives, as i can run on high except for the textures i mentioned.

update, still the same issue with open beta 1.5.2. I have to keep textures and water on medium.

i have also tested many versions of ati driver, older catalyst and all released versions of crimson.

please do let me know if i can do any additional testing.

as stated, i can test with a NVIDIA Titan X and am willing to do so but i really need to know if i have to deactivate and reactivate my licenses to change out to the Titan X and then back to the R9 Nano.

thought i would post an update, same issue. i cannot at all get into the 3d world. starts to load and then seems to get stuck and eventually i get the not responding message.

this happens with released 1.5.2 and open alpha 2.0 with latest update (I had an update today, not sure when it was released).

So you have definitely tried injecting the dlls from Catalyst 14.6 into the bin folder of DCS World? your symptoms of freezing sound very similar to what i would get if i didn't use them

I remember that Mustang. It does work.

Guys do you remember the issue long ago were the sim. would crash if the monitor and the sim. were set to different resolutions? Just wondering if that is a factor here.

hlfritz try setting window GUI to the same resolution as the Sim. It was an issue a long time ago that reared its ugly head several times if memory serves .

I have absoluetly the same problem as you have. Have you find a solution? I also noticed that I can still play at ultra high settings but only once at the first launch of the game after PC reboot. 1 mission per reboot lol.

i opened a ticket with support, lots of back and forth, sending files and screenshots, and they helped by giving this 'temporary' workaround:

Fix for ATI 3xx videocard in 1.5 and 2.0 versdions:

unzip the attached archive (2 dll's) and copy these files into 'Eagle Dуnаmiсs\<DCS World>\bin' folder.

See FAQ: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2564073&postcount=2

I am pretty sure these are the same files as Mustang posted since they thank him in that FAQ post.

note this will work for ATI cards only, and I am not sure if there will ever be a permanent fix to this - which means our ATI cards will always be using pretty old drivers. this is what they gave me in Dec.

Yeah - I could not believe it either. :)

All good except we are running on outdated ATI driver .dll's.

Has anyone tried the latest drivers to see fi they work? There was a recent release.

Every driver release i try them out with DCS in the vain hope of seeing them working, all the way up to the very latest 16.4.1 drivers still cause a freeze up :(
