As already stated, I'm a noob to the A-10C, currently trying to figure out the system dependencies and function. I've run through the manual start sequence a few times now, in DCS 2.0, Nevada, and there are a few details I just can't figure out:

1. I can't seem to turn on the EAC. The switch moves to the ON position but then immediately toggles back to OFF.

2. When trying to turn on the anti-collision/strobes the switch reacts just like the EAC, and toggles back to OFF

2. Ignoring the above, I've taken off and then noticed that the flight path marker is not presented in the HUD. Can't help suspecting this might somehow be related to problem no. 1 above.

Is there some step I've missed somewhere in the sequence that makes these functions impossible to turn on?

When you get started click on the CDU on the right mfd, youll see the align counter going up. If you do it on the ground without rolling it needs to get to 4.0, then you press the osb next to NAV. After that, press the EGI button and your EAC will function properly.

The pinky switch on the left throttle needs to be in aft position for the anti-collision lights to work.

That was it. Thanks!

I don't have a Warthog or Rhino HOTAS so all those switches are a bit obscure to me. What's the left pinky used for?

Could it be that I was too fast? Turning EAC on after takoff worked. I guess that's because I was moving then?

They shouldn't be as the HOTAS controls are absolutely crucial for flying this bird. All the fuctions are explained in the manual (page 86) and you can assign them to whatever buttons you have on your stick. If you don't have enough buttons, map one as a modifier.

Manual, LASTE Control Panel :book:

NOTE:

EAC will disarm (switch moved automatically to off) when invalid data is received from the LASTE sensors (CADC, EGI, and SAS), or, when any of the SAS Engage switches on the SAS Control Panel are disengaged, or, when EGI is deselected either automatically (by an EGI failure) or manually via the switch on the NMSP. Any disarming of EAC will cause the EAC light on the caution light panel and the MASTER CAUTION light to illuminate. If autopilot mode was engaged, the audio warning "WARNING, AUTOPILOT", occurs over the intercom. Engagement of the EAC autopilot or PAC modes is possible only if the EAC switch is set to ARM, SAS is engaged, IFFCC switch in position other than OFF, EGI is selected, BLENDED or INS-only NAV solution is selected after full EGI INS alignment, and air refueling door lever is in the closed position.

Long story short, the personal checklist you appear to be developing right now should move the EAC switch so far aft that all preconditions will be met by the time you set it to ARM

Also, some of the other posters seem to confuse the EAC switch on the LASTE Control Panel aft of the throttle with the EGI switch on the NMSP (or the EGI switch on the AAP? I'm not even sure), so (as you should always do anyway) be aware that inaccurate information may have been given. :smartass:

Confused EGI switch position; It's AAP instead of CDU
