Yurgon Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 Somehow I must have missed the announcement and all the other threads of joy, cheer and laughter (that is, if there were any). So what am I talking about? Flying the A-10C in, and below, clouds leads to easily visible and quite strong turbulences. The nose pitches up or down, the aircraft is subject to up- and downdrafts and shakes. Suddenly it doesn't feel like flying on rails any more, it feels very much like sitting in a real aircraft (judging from my mostly airliner-passenger perspective) in a real environment. I'm surprised this feature hasn't received more recognition yet. Anyway, huge kudos to the wizards at ED for integrating this! Of course this is not limited to the A-10C, I also noticed previously unknown turbulence effects in the Ka-50, and they're probably present in all modules. Since I mostly fly the A-10C, that's just the aircraft I'm most happy to see this feature implemented. :)

Devrim Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 Really? That's great, but I fly with A-10C for a week, I didn't realize this. - Oh! What was my weather settings?... Ok, let me check... Anatoli-Kagari9 Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 Is this TRUE ???? It would become one of my best Christmas Gifts this Year!!! I was long waiting for something to happen in this area !!!!! Looking fwd to try it tonight ! Is it also present in EDGE with Nevada ? Flight Simulation is the Virtual Materialization of a Dream...
carlos.gh Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 What version, 1.5 or 2? In 1.5.2 I have not noticed it despite of flying in the cloud bases.
dburne Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 I noticed in one of the single missions in the KA-50 I was encountering some turbulence, causing the nose to pitch up and down. Anatoli-Kagari9 Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 I noticed in one of the single missions in the KA-50 I was encountering some turbulence, causing the nose to pitch up and down. Well, I did notice it a few weeks ago when flying a "difficult landing" situation that comes with the K4. I had never experienced so much bouncing in DCS before. It's a feature I have long wished could get some fine tuning in DCS World. One of the promised features for EDGE. when it becomes final, will be the effects of mountainous terrain on winds and turbulence. Maybe one day I can have a nice, Professional FM glider in DCS :-) Flight Simulation is the Virtual Materialization of a Dream...
GurbY Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 Not so much to do with turbulence, but I noticed hovering above an aircraftcarrier that the instant I moved a LITTLE over the ship's side, the UH began to lose hight.. Very nice and realistic modelling!
ineth Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 i only flew the SU25 a couple of times to get the feel since i preffer to read everything and memorize it before i dive in. Since i fly sims since 1984 i set for my first free flight everything to extreme, winter, night, rain etc took it for a spin around Sotchi and noticed that the weather played a huge part in the way it affected the airplane. Vibrations was the least of my worries since sudden wind threw me out of position quiet a few times. I had to do my first landing with no visibility at all and had to rely on my Falcon flight experience to land the plane. Was not a smooth landing, i destroyed the front wheel, but not the gear, and i made it slowly to ramp. I had to opt for a hard landing though since i had to keep all flaps and wheel and all in to minimize the storm effecting my plane. in short. This Sim freaking rocks. Count me in for the years to come. Greek/German origin. Flying sims since 1984. Using computers since 1977. Hansolo Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 Very nice. Does this also apply for when nearing the tanker? Cheers Hans 132nd Virtual Wing homepage & 132nd Virtual Wing YouTube channel My DCS-BIOS sketches & Cockpit Album
Mike77 Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 Very nice. Does this also apply for when nearing the tanker? Cheers Hans That's was I was thinking about too. Wake turbulence. Regardless of this question, it keeps getting better and better. Amazing Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. Mike Busutil Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 Don't forget about that turbulence adjuster that has been there forever  [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Checkout my user files here: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/filter/user-is-Mike Busutil/apply/
Rangi Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 Maybe one day I can have a nice, Professional FM glider in DCS :-) +1 for PFM glider. I have also noticed the turbulence is now very well simulated. Set it to 15+ and it's a real wild ride! PC: 6600K @ 4.5 GHz, 12GB RAM, GTX 970, 32" 2K monitor.
Yurgon Posted December 23, 2015 Author Posted December 23, 2015 What version, 1.5 or 2? In 1.5.2 I have not noticed it despite of flying in the cloud bases. I noticed it in 1.5.2, in SP (first mission of The Enemy Within during a long approach from the Black Sea to Kobuleti) and MP (OP Bactria), which my buddies confirmed. Very nice. Does this also apply for when nearing the tanker? I don't think so, at least I didn't notice any kind of wake turbulence during AAR the last couple of days. Always room for improvement for the devs. ;)
