DCS 2.0 Nevada stutter help

Recommended Posts

Just a note of interest if i fly the nevada take off mission which is in the dark the stutters are back,

I have installed 20gb of 1600 mghz corsair vengeance memory and this has limited or no effect over my original 6gb 1600 mghz memory, so the 16gb must for this game seem wrong.

core i7 OC 4.2 and a GTX 980 ti 6 gb card + 20gb of memory and still DCS 2.0 Nevada stutters....frustrated ??

surely cant have to keep turning more settings down, depth of field is simple vis is med, shadows is med, theres something wrong somewhere im sure and it cant be hardware relayed totally

any more thoughts guys?? cant think how i can eliminate these stutters!!

DCS 1.5 does not have these issues on my system

X58 Chipset?

How did you manage to install 20GB of system memory?? If your memory isn't made up of identical sticks it will either not work at all, or will be pretty damn slow. Still I feel there is something else going on with your PC. I have a much weaker rig and can play on Nevada stutter free.

Could you please post a screenshot of your video settings in the game. Also you need to turn on adaptive VSYNC in Nvidia settings (unless you have a gsync monitor) and every time you enter the cockpit ALT + ENTER (Either LALT Or RALT can't remember which). Your screen will go black for a second or two and then you should be capped at 60 FPS, stutter free.

Nevada is in ALPHA so yeah, there are performance improvements coming down the pipeline (At least I hope so) but stuttering is a problem that can be fixed by the end user.

mine for example doesnt stutter as a matter of fact, at HIGH to ULTRA settings, just Shadows are set to flat landscape as their seems to be a bug, also reported afaik.

The RAM MHz in your setup are somewhat cumbersome to me as that CPU afair is multiplier locked and needs a very high FSB to be overclocked...and that never works with 1600MHz DDR3.

I have such a system myself for my son, that Asus WS board with SAS and all that crap will not oc if with 1600DDR3, it sticks to 2.66GHz, but if i put mine in, see in sig. 2400MHz, I can boost that cpu and board to 4.2 and maybe even more if I would try but my son is ok with what he got so I dont need to buy him new faster ddr3 ram.

double check that, you might have voided your oc with that...dunno...could very well be if you run X58 and 1st gen i7

its tripple channel RAM afair, dont mix those modules in wild west style...that wont oc either . I would go for 6*4GB and 24GB total, that is common for such boards

I have yet to see stuttering in either 2.0 or 1.5.

does this game support triple buffering just wodering if this stuttering for me is to do with vsynch or adaptive vsynch in nvidia control panel

That's th thing at 1080p their is no stutters but once you crank up the resolution higher that is where the problems kick in, suspect it's a vid memory problem even with 4gb

not true, 1440p up to 180fps with real fps to 144Hz and no stutter ever, not 1.5 and not 2.0 NTTR

The culprit is elsewhere

I'm also suffering intermittent stutter in two scenarios (thus far) - on the ground taxing at Nellis, i think only when there is other traffic on the ground. When manoeuvring in a fur ball. When flying alone at all altitudes, even low level over Vegas i get a solid 60fps. I have everything maxed out and am running at full res on my 27" Apple Cinema Display (2550x1440). The behaviour i see is super smooth 60fps and then a pause for maybe 0.5 second up to maybe 2 seconds. It seems to be due to other aircraft nearby but that's just a guess. Any help diagnosing where the fault lies would be brilliant.

a silly question... what is the install path?

I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess it has something to do with aircraft being near me and some threads suggest a bug with model visibility so i'm going to switch that off as my first test. I've compiled a list of things I'm going to try: Cockpit displays (remove every frame rendering)

Mirrors

Model visibility

Flat shadows

nVidia VSYNC

Bios settings

The odd thing is that I think I've got good horsepower because I can fly low over Vegas and get beautiful smooth 60fps but then I'm turning with a couple of other aircraft nearby out over the countryside and suddenly I'll get freezes.

The stuttering is not your computer ! When you have 16gb of ram and your running a gtx980Ti together with a powerfull CPU its clearly something in the code of the eagle dynamics graphics engine thats not functioning properly.

I have these stutters aswell and when i track my fps it stays at 60 constantly and still the game has like these mini freezes and stutters.

But hey its in Alpha stage so eventually all the stutters and buggers will be worked out :)
