Jateu Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 Hi all. I've tried so many tactics and my biggest failure is to understand the area of death for the Shilka. I'm currently updating hotas with slew mod in hope this will increase my accuracy on the in run. But I still seem to be having a trouble taking these things down. Any one out there got any tips or tricks. Many thanks
Espéce De salaud Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 IF you want to avoid them, stay over 10,000 feet and if you want to gun run them, do a 2 second burst around 1.2 nm out and try to turn out around 1.0 nm
Espéce De salaud Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 Actually make that more like 1.8 nm instead of 1.2 nm
Jateu Posted January 17, 2016 Author Posted January 17, 2016 Was hoping to take out with mavs. But thank you for the distance referance. James

If you fly too long as stationary target toward them, they will pinhole you. i7-8700k, 32GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 2x 2080S SLI 8GB, Oculus Rift S. i7-8700k, 16GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 1080Ti 11GB, 27" 4K, 65" HDR 4K.
Yurgon Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 Was hoping to take out with mavs. I don't understand your question then. Your Mavs way outrange the Shilka. Just lock them, fire from 5+ miles and egress. They'll have absolutely no way to hit you then. Or do you have a problem using Mavs in general?
Deezle Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 Shilkas are easy gun targets once you're an experienced hog driver. I'd rather face them with guns than tanks. As mentioned the mavs way out range them, and you can easily fly over them and bomb them. Lots of videos on youtube about dropping bombs and using mavs. 1 Intel 9600K@4.7GHz, Asus Z390, 64GB DDR4, EVGA RTX 3070, Custom Water Cooling, 970 EVO 1TB NVMe 34" UltraWide 3440x1440 Curved Monitor, 21" Touch Screen MFD monitor, TIR5 My Pit Build, Moza AB9 FFB w/WH Grip, TMWH Throttle, MFG Crosswinds W/Combat Pedals/Damper, Custom A-10C panels, Custom Helo Collective, SimShaker with Transducer
Oscar Juliet Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 I'm pretty sure you're worried about Tunguska's and not Shilkas. One has missiles and one doesn't. Either way you should be able to take them out with ease. Have you learned about force correlate mode on mavericks? Allowing you to fire from LONG ranges. More than normal? My Youtube Channel
Yurgon Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 Have you learned about force correlate mode on mavericks? Allowing you to fire from LONG ranges. More than normal? Works well in the sim. Just be aware that AFAIK this is very unrealistic. IIRC realistic locking ranges with Force Correlate should be something like 5 miles tops, and only used on relatively large targets.
MasterZelgadis Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 For the Tunguska just stay at a very long range. When they shoot at you, you should be able to relatively easy beam their missiles and outrun them. After launch warning put it on your 3/9 line, fly straight a while, then fly the other direction. Missile should be out of energy and miss. If you want to do it the relatively safe way, do this a couple of times at the edge of the tunguskas range, until it stops firing missiles (empty). Then you can kill it like a shilka (bombs, guns, mavs..) "Sieh nur, wie majestätisch du durch die Luft segelst. Wie ein Adler. Ein fetter Adler." http://www.space-view.net
QuiGon Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 You can engage Tunguskas from outside their range if you stay high. If you stay above 19000 they can't even reach you at all.
