Please ED....please give us bigger and better explosions. The explosions you currently see from a GBU-12, which is a massive 500lb bomb, is crappy.

This is what I'm talking about: [ame]

ie. large explosion, etc.

The current explosion effects we have in DCS needs some loving big time, esp on the NTTR map with sand/dust that should be thrown up.

+1

And maybe a little tweak on the areas of effect: actually they seem very small

It's all about computer horse power. But, it would be nice if the option to select hyper realistic effects existed.

bombs in general need a lot of work. effects are wimpy and effect on target likewise.

BMP1s survive near misses, it's totally bizarre

They are redoing the grass/clutters, clouds and most effects (explosions being one of them). It hasn't been stated when nor to what extent.

People have been making convincing-looking explosions in games for decades; I think it's less a matter of technology than a desire to avoid accusations that people's serious, sober study sim is turning into a Michael Bay movie. But I've read accounts from real pilots saying they were surprised by how "Hollywood" even an AMRAAM hit looked, so I say pull out all the stops and let the FX artists give us the most photogenic pyrotechnics their reference footage allows.

For when it goes wrong: Win10x64, GTX1080, Intel i7 @3.5 GHz, 32GB DDR3, Warthog HOTAS, Saitek combat rudder pedals, TrackIR 5 / Vive Pro, a case of Pabst, The Funk

Yes, explosions should get a total overhauling...and not only explosion but also the smoke effect of them and a "side effect" when they happen, the shadow of the smoke column...this is very important and I hope they are concerned about that as this is key to perfectly LOCATE the exact point of the explosion...and because all smoke columns in game right now look really weird not being affected in any way by the environment's light (nor casting shadows) indeed, it would be verynice to make all smoke systems to cast shadows, so I hope they add this "feature"

In this video you can see how the lack of shadows in the smoke columns look quite odd:

Looking forward for something like this:
