I have a Saitek X52 HOTAS and have been perusing the internet for a set of Saitek Pro Flight Rudder Pedals to go along with my stick. But I am running into everywhere that sells them is either out of stock or charging outrageous prices. Like 450 bucks on amazon outrageous. So I have questions. What is going on with this shortage of rudder pedals from Saitek? Will CH rudder pedals play nice with my X52? Anybody got a lead on the Saitek pedals? I have had my X52 for over ten trouble free years and really would like to buy their pedals, but this is ridiculous. Any help or insight is appreciated.

I have the original Saitek rudder pedals, and they have worked well for a very long time, but they are not really connected to the X52 in any way other than being configurable by the same software. The only problem I have really had with them is that the adjustable pedals are locked by a cheap, spring loaded plastic peg. At this point, the plastic pegs have broken on both pedals (many, many years after I first bought the pedals). So the sliding part on each pedal is free to move and normally at the shortest position due to gravity. I am sure I could devise a simple fix, but it really isn't a problem. My toes hang just a bit over the top edges of the pedals. But it doesn't impact my comfort or control.

CH rudder pedals will definitely play nice with the X-52, because they don't really affect each other. The only problem with the CH pedals is that they are very close together. Many people have complained about that in the past. As I have my stick center-mounted, placing my feet on pedals close together would wrap my legs around my stick. The Saitek spacing is a bit wider and more natural for a center mounted stick. If you are using an X-52 on the side or sitting on a desk, the spacing probably won't matter very much.

The shortage doesn't look so good. Perhaps Mad Catz is discontinuing some or all of the pro flight line of products? I see the Saitek USA online store is out of X-55, yokes, throttle quadrants, etc. I would hate to see their products disappear from the market.

Apparently it is normal for them to go out of stock, especially around the holidays? I can't believe they don't have anything to sell nearly a month after Christmas.

My advice would be to hold off buying them, and wait until you can get a really good set. The Saitek stuff is plastic, low resolution, and will not last long.

You'd be better off looking at a more robust set. They cost a lot more, but I am pretty sure they'll be cheaper in the long run because they are built to last, and they are far far more effective too.

Only problem is they show currently " out of stock" ... available in 6-12 weeks.

shake - are you located in the states? If so I have a set of Saitek Combat Pedals I am willing to sell as I just recently added the MFG Crosswinds, PM me if interested- I would prefer though to ship within the states here.

get VKB pedals.

I'm going to challenge you on the price point. Saitek's Pro Combat Pedals are about $180. They have exactly the same internals as their $150 Pro Pedals; and from reviews, it's a highly serviceable piece of junk. They are made mostly of plastic; plenty of reviews complain about breaking it, or needing to take it apart to fix. For an extra $20-$50 you get an all-metal, quality piece of equipment, one that will hold it's value if I ever need to sell it? It's a no brainer

are in stock in usa for usa Canada customers and fsc Europe handle worldwide.

I can assist you if interested, and if not I can help too.

My Saitek Combats served me very well also, right up until I retired them.Never had a single issue with them, and were just as good as the day I got them.

The Crosswinds are in a whole different league though and very glad I upgraded.

I've had Saitek Pro Combat pedals for about 4 years now I think, they still work perfectly and are the closest I've seen to real modern US combat aircraft pedals.

Plus they have toe-brakes.

Those VKB pedals do look good for people who sit in office chairs though.

They are ok, but the spring is a bit strong even if set to the lowest setting. The resolution is good, you don't need a higher resolution on rudder pedals.

Thus, for planes it's quite good, but for helos it's not perfect, because you tend to overcorrect movements close to the center.

But that's pretty much the thing with all rudder pedals available for a reasonable price (excluding actual anti-torque pedals for helo sims, of course).

Well, this model have a "reasonable price" and one can control the helicopter nose position very precise. ;)

Just don't look "badass modern combat aircraft" pedal. :D

Wow, thanks for all the replies. Some tough decisions I am coming across. I do like the VKB pedals, but the lack of toe brakes is sticking with me for some reason. But I think I may hold off on pedals for a bit and just concentrate on the a-10c. Just sucks, I really like the ka-50 and was looking to get the other helos soon. Oh well. Might just get the mig-21, now. Anyways, thank you all for the help. I appreciate it.

From the 3 above mentioned planes, only A-10 (slight) benefits from "toe brakes"... :D

Well I love having my toe brakes and use them very regularly, even in the Black Shark. Much rather use them than pressing a button...

Well we are "gaming" here aren't we? Lol.

Goodness I would never waste my paddle lever on something like the wheel brakes, having toe brakes allows one to open up those other levers for much better things. I prefer to use the paddle on my Warthog as a modifier, better use for it at least for me.

After having toe brakes could not imagine owning a rudder pedal set without them. About the only thing worse would be having toe brakes and not even using them.
