By the time you got to altitude and speed you would have run out of map.

And lo, Reverend Vegas did say "Take forth unto the infidel the mighty GAU 8 and expend its holy 30MM so that freedom will be brung upon them who knoweth not the joys of BBBBBBBRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRTTTTTTTTTT"

"Amen"

Well I think you would run out of go juice first. The SR-71 leaked most of its fuel out before reaching the tanker. Not till the skin was hot and the fuel tank seams sealed would you be able to go any where.

I flew the B-1B with FC2 for fun and well that did not take long to fly around the map. But at least i could drop some bombs with it. I think the SR-71 is more a novelty item at this point. You learn it, go up a few times and then never fly it again.

You could use it to take some stunning side scan radar selfies!

But as far as combat aircraft go - not much point really. It's defensive strategy was to fly above and faster than any threat, and Recce really isn't much use. Another well known flight sim would be the place to fly it, because you have the entire globe. What else is there to it than that really?

It could be just a computer controlled aircraft. It could be set at speed and altitude with a level course to fly and give the Russian aircraft/SAM's something to chase for fun. Or, it could be the A-12 fighter version...:)

Thoroughly debunked.

It did leak fuel prior to heating up, but not so much that its tanks drained empty because of it.

Even if the current DCS maps weren't way too small for the Blackbird, the missions are entirely pre-scheduled, and the bird had to be in the right place at the right time or they'd miss the tanker (as in: one of the many tankers they'd have to refuel from during a typical mission). So not much sightseeing, let alone free-flight, for us DCS pilots.

Besides, prior to the first patch, the M-2000C could climb to 75,000 ft as well. ;)

Agreed. :)
