Awesome Soup!

Disable some layers, see what that does. mine only has three layers now. Still farting on with it just for fun because thats what I like doing the most. I don't fight each other like you lot ...LOL

No, you are not missing anything !

I have come to the conclusion that these clouds are NOT enabled properly. It doesn't make any difference what you do. By enabling all the layers, all it seems to do is give the same one all the time.

Just wasted a day ...lmao !

Ya I hear ya if it's any hint as to the direction the new clouds are I think we will be in for a treat. I find I spend most my time tinkering too.

I have to disagree about todays hardware capabilities to achieve something like thise images...its perfectly possible to achieve a photo realistic quality clouds and atmospheric scattering today...another story is doing it in dcs engine...

There you have:

Sorry, now videos are working

This isn't just an atmosphere simulation, it has aircraft modelled with high detail, buildings all over, AI routines, wind and pressure simulated countless other cpu cycles...sorry but our average computers are not going to be good enough for some time. Sorry to disagree.

Yes, I know it, there is more things going on behind the weather (although truesky is intended to be used as a part of the "world" you migh create) but take a look at this link:

https://software.intel.com/en-us/blogs/2014/03/31/cloud-rendering-sample

Check it out and you would see that it doesnt take so much resources to get an incredible high level clouds system.

Even if we have to wait some years to be able to enjoy something like those clouds, due to low performance, I think it well worth the wait...as I said, it would be a future proof matter.

Can someone wait to see what capability has DCS: World engine weather improvements in progress when release on alpha or beta, before judge them by a incomplete and not activate feature, please. The same situation was take with Nevada and EDGE engine, previous to alpha release, and others "claim" to change EDGE engine by "outterra" and other engines by the pics show in develop.

Im not doubting about ED capabilities in any way mate!!! Im just saying how I would like new clouds to be, just that (others may differ)...Im sure ED will do a nice job!!

This is an awesome find, but yeah, they're killing my framerates for now and look all jaggy in the distance. Not quite ready for primetime but I can already tell they have a lot of potential and even now look way more naturalistic than the current clouds. Looking forward to seeing the real release.

For when it goes wrong: Win10x64, GTX1080, Intel i7 @3.5 GHz, 32GB DDR3, Warthog HOTAS, Saitek combat rudder pedals, TrackIR 5 / Vive Pro, a case of Pabst, The Funk

I partly disagree with those saying the edges need be sharper. It depends on the cloud type and its location.

There are a couple of screenshots taken from the ground where the cloud is similar to stratocumulus. SC is not as well defined as is 'fair weather cumulus', and can form from the remnants of stratus or fog which vary from smooth and uniform to raged and only partly defined. So the lower level stuff need not be more sharply defined.

I think if appropriate cloud types were modeled and spawned at appropriate altitudes, you could expand from there to include the different precipitations and turbulence associated with each type. That in turn could lead to weather systems where the clouds themselves dont so much spawn randomly, as much as they spawn logically as part of a randomly generated system. It would be pretty neat to see a graphical area forecast before the undertaking of a mission. Though I realize its asking a lot.

Woaw he is a girl :music_whistling:

Whoo, no not a girl, a middle aged woman would be more the appropriate description, but it's nice to be considered younger...LOL
