As for Meta, that issue been discussed endlessly in the thread for the v63 update no need to filter it over here more than it already has.

As for the App, the External Apps launching is not linked to profile or launch mode.

Hey Everybody, Been using the latest version of the App with only DCS Open Beta installed and launched via the App. Everything is working fine as advertised.  Since the new version consolidation I have noticed no difference in launch behavior. Going forward, will I need to or should I change anything in the App? Thanks!

Current size is ~66% of a 1080p Screen.

Not a prioity at all, but it would be very nice to see a screen resizing option in the future, as a lot of the text is hard to read on a 4K screen. I think we may have touched on this sometime ago already.

yes we have, high DPI mode and scaling is on the future plans, but there are several larger things coming before it, and major UI Changes and Code changes required to facilitate the DPI Scaling.

Hmm, strange. Today a DLSS option dissapeared in Rendering tab. I can only select FSR and NIR. 

In logs I found "04/11/2024 | 10:16:42 PM | SUPPORT  | NVIDIA RTX GPU NOT INSTALLED"

Ah, OK. SO I think this is becuase it detected Virtual Desktop as my primary GPU card and Quest 3 as secondary... Interesting 🙂

Correct, App only pings DXGI for 2 devices, I have no way around that, I'll ask MS if there's a better way.

The Launcher use to tell you if there was a DCS update available within the slot. It doesn't do that now?

It should.

It pings ED's server directly for latest version.

It may have been broken when ED Removed OB from the server list, I fixed this internally already.

*ie if you look at the home screen under latest versions available, it's a bunch of random text from the updates.digitalcombatsimulator.com site

While waiting for MS, I tried to expand the DXGI WMI Get Video Controller call to more than 2 devices and it throws an exception, so I don't think it's possible.

I may look into another route.

I’m wondering if there’s a way to list devices in order, e.g. start with the one that is used to display the primary desktop. I have zero knowledge about the API though so… 🙂

its the way windows prioritizes them, but the limit of only getting device info for 2 adapters is a WMI Limit for that category, I'm waiting to hear back from MS.


For example, my Desktop, shows the 6800XT as Primary, but when I remote login, it shows it as secondary, w/ Microsoft Remote Display Adapter as the Primary./

My laptop shows Intel as primary, RTX3060Ti as Secondary, but when I remote login, it doesn't show the 3rd adapter. so I see Microsoft Remote Display Adapter, then Intel as Secondary, and no RTX 3060Ti

@SkateZilla Yes, I see it shows the info bottom right under "Latest Versions Available". It use to show "Update Available" inside the "Sim Build Slot#1" window. Now it doesn't.

It's no biggy, cos I can always just click update, but wanted to let you know.

Yup, it's fixed internally, as ED removed OB from their site, so the parser is parsing the wrong lines and reporting the wrong strings to compare.

Is it possible on a preset to define the headphone and microphone sources ?

One preset for normal headphone when using screen and one for Oculus Quest when in VR...

right now there is no way to scan and set the device IDs properly, I'm still looking for the exact formula DCS uses in the LUA file.

The app pings WMI/DXGI for the device info, and on my system it returns all the devices, but the Device IDs do not match what DCS Puts in the LUA Files.

Down the road maybe, once I figure out how DCS is pinging the system for devices.

DCS Uses {Variables}{DSGUID}

So far no output option I've seen in Win32_SoundDevice Class outputs the DSGUID.

Just letting everyone know,
I have not forgotten about ya'll.

the app is in daily development on my end, most of the issues with the last public build have been fixed, and other things completely re-vamped.

The next public release isnt scheduled until June likely,
As the app is also developed and maintained to aid testers, there are some functions that are integrated into the app that are not in the release version of DCS.

The change log is extensive between the October build and now.

On top of finding a suitable host so I can re-enable the auto update function, I am also looking into 2 separate deployment paths, one for testers and one for the public that way there wont be such a long wait.

Thanks for the incredible work SZ!

With this utility, is it possible to have once install of DCS use multiple saved games profiles? 

I know that dcs_variant.txt I can specify where the saved game install is located. I was just wondering whether or not there are settings in this app that would allow me to specify different saved games locations, and when I launch DCS with Skatezilla, it would either automatically update this file (or otherwise launch DCS with parameters that pointed it to another saved games location if such a parameter exists?)

Also... I notice with my current install (I have 2 DCS installs, one used to be open beta, the other used to be stable), in the app, it shows Slot 1 pointing towards my original Stable release, and the second pointing towards my open beta install (to be expected), but the SG Path for both point to the same location (saved games\dcs.openbeta). 

It doesn't matter what I do to try and change this parameter (including manually editing the config file), it keeps defaulting them both to the same location. This doesn't appear to make any difference to DCS launching. (My original 'stable' install still uses the saved games\DCS path - so I'm guessing that this is a display/cosmetic only label, and doesn't have a bearing on the actual launch parameters), but didn't know if this was a bug, or a potential issue with my install.

what may be the reason that dcs won’t launch with reshade through the launcher but will launch with reshade when starting from .exe? (both in flat screen). i checked directories twice, checked launch parameters in the launcher and on the .exe. not sure what else may be blocking it?

Maybe post a screenshot of your DCS Updater Launcher GUI Utility Home screen.

It shows your current Build and Slots plus the the Directories used.

It also indicates if Multi-Threading is ON.

  • Maybe you only have reshaded installed in the DCS World\bin folder?
    • For example if you are using Multi-Threading Reshade should also be installed in bin-mt
  • Do not own:  | F-15E | JF-17 | Fw 190 A-8 | Bf 109 |

ok, i fixed the issue, turns out that selecting the rendering api + openXR is installing only the vr version(?). i fixed it by running the installer again but this time i selected only DX.
