Jugdriver Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 (edited) Sounds like a mission tweak is needed until the Mirage's missiles improve. Perhaps the MiGs could be restricted to using the R-3S? Its superior range over the Magic II should be compensated by its rear-aspect only seeker and 2g launch limit. I have been killed repeatedly from the front by R-3R's launched by Mig 21's and I thought it is suppose to be rear aspect only as well, but the R-3R is quite efficient at front aspect kills. There is a way to ALWAYS evade it, when you got lunched at go up and down pulling positive G, that means rolling before you pull. You dont even need to go left and right, and it allows you to shoot back 530 and score a kill. you will see the R3R exploding in the air before reaching you. you dont need to spend a single chaff

JD AKA_MattE R3Rs are all aspect. they are not all that maneuverable so many times you can out turn them if you seen when they are launched. As a target however if you stay straight and level they are usually a high percentage kill.

Schmidtfire Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 The new Matra 530 is NOT working correctly in PvP. We tried a MiG-21 vs Mirage in MP. Every 530 launched streaked towards the target but missed. Even from perfect conditions and MiG-21 pilot flying straight. Not one missile of like 20 shots hit their target. NO lock indications recieved on RWR for either aircraft. But Mirage vs Su-27, the RWR worked fine, so I guess this might be a 3rd party problem of some sorts... 2.0.1 Alpha with the latest update.

When a target is locked the radar can look down something like 15 degrees.

It sounds like a user error, I was flying the MiG-21 so I assumed that the Mirage player knew how to fire the 530 correctly... he probably hit the lock button once, since he's used to fly other modules, and no version of the 530 tracked. I will forward this info and see if we can get it to work properly next time.

Badlego Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 Maybe your radar was stuck in SST or TWS mode without showing a contact. This happens to me several times, mostly online. I lock a garget on the radar screen, the target returns to be a ghost contact or some type of artifact, disapears and my radar stays in sst mode sithout showing any contacts on the screen anymore until i hit the delock button. When playing online (104th mostly) my radar is stuck at around 0 degr when i turn it on. To solve it i have to change the azimuth limit once.
