This is so difficult.

1. How do you switch off the landing gear alarm?

2. When I make precontact the S-3 goes from 220 to 350 knots so by the time I've caught up again to try and dock with the probe I get a warning to pre-contact again then the S-3 slows back down to 220 again making me overshoot by a mile! On so it goes on and on. Never have managed to get put the thing in the thing.

I was fine with the A-10C

Any help and tips please. Ta

Happens to me as well.

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

If you're using your own mission, you should change the tanker's enroute speed to approximately match the speed it'll fly during the refuel. 454 knots in the mission editor @ 16,000 feet works fairly well for me.

Anything below 260 knots is too slow for the M-2000C, that is why the landing gear alarm is triggered. Actually, anything under 300 knots is too slow for a pure delta wing.

Do as nomdeplume said, increase the tanker speed to a safer one.

I have increased the speed but it still happens, I might be doing something wrong.

I had the IL-78 set to fly at 6000m with a speed of 850 km/h. The mission starts and he's flying at 600 km/h instead. As soon as I ask for pre-contact and I get the ok he starts booting it...

I am baffled.

I have no issues with the SU-33

I tried it both in 1.5.3 and 2.0 with the same results. So in the mission editor when you change the speed- is that enroute speed or the tanking speed? It's just crap that the tanker slams on the anchors back to 220kts if you lose contact by being out of range and have to recontact again before gradually speeding back up. Not sure if that's a bug or what. Hope it can get fixed though, I remember the a2a refuelling with the A-10c had issues for quite some time.

That accelerating/decelarating of the tanker indeed is anyoing.

Even if I can connect I won't get any fuel, like it has been pre 1.5.3. Wondering what step I am missing...

Have you checked the tanker speed in the advanced waypoint actions? I find that the speed I set for the tanker in the normal waypoints is always different than the one that is shown in the advanced waypoint actions. I have not had any trouble with the tanker's speed, I just am having a hell of a time getting settled down and not overcontrolling. I have not had any trouble with the VF-113 mod of the F/A-18C getting plugged into the basket and staying plugged in until finished.

Where is that? Couldn't find anything on the panel with the fuel gauge...

Should be easier than the eagle boom-in-the-back, shouldn't it? (not that I have it easy in the 15.... :( )

That said, memories of basket refueling in Jane's FA18 are nightmarish.....

Well it did take an awful lot of practice with the A-10 eventually had around 170 full refuels before I stopped flying it (slew control packed in on the warthog throttle) so will see how much practice the Mirage needs!

I'm really struggling with it right now, I find much harder than with A-10C.

The big difference is that with A-10C the operator guides the boom, so you only need to have a stable flight behind the tanker.

There is no one to guide the basket, and when you start oscillating things get really ugly, quickly.

Also the Mirage is much more snappy than the A-10C, aggravating said oscillations.

I will continue practicing... So far one effective technique I found is to focus on putting the FPM at the same time on the basket and on the horizon. Then focus on keeping the FPM very close to the horizon, to limit altitude changes when readjusting altitude.

After connection, trying to stay in formation by using the FPM again, but I have yet to find a good visual reference as the tanker is then almost completely hidden by the canopy.

Usually I stay connected only a few seconds

The fact that M-2000C is WIP also doesn't make the task easy, S-3B changes speed while refueling (discussed here). Also I don't always trust the artificial horizon as it has a tendency to shift a bit when banking.

Maybe that helps out a bit:
