D4n Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 It'd be great to see that feature in the near future, with ability to watch back what just happened in a track file with ability to rewind, so camera angle etc. can be changed! :) DCS Wishlist: 2K11 Krug SA-4 Ganef SAM, VR-TrackIR icons next to player names in score-chart PvP: 100+ manual player-kills with Stingers on a well known dynamic campaign server - 100+ VTOL FARP landings & 125+ hours AV-8B, F-14 crew, royal dutch airforce F-16C - PvP campaigns since 2013 DCS server-admins: please adhere to a common sense gaming industry policy as most server admins throughout the industry do. spiddx Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 +1 I would gladly live with bigger replay sizes and do without the ability to jump into the cockpit if we just had a functioning replay system that works like any other game. Jinker Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 +1 I was just thinking of posting the same request! High jinks!
WelshZeCorgi Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 +1 Same, would really like to take pictures from multiple angles for the DCS photography submission!
VincentLaw Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 While it might be impossible to run the simulation backwards, it should be possible to save a series of "intra-frames" which could be jumped backwards to without starting over from the beginning. These could also mitigate synchronization errors. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Northstar98 Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 I believe there are a lot of things on the list for the replays and tracks, and this is certainly one of them that I at least would be a very happy bunny to see in DCS Modules I own: F-14A/B, F-4E, Mi-24P, AJS 37, AV-8B N/A, F-5E-3, MiG-21bis, F-16CM, F/A-18C, Supercarrier, Mi-8MTV2, UH-1H, Mirage 2000C, FC3, MiG-15bis, Ka-50, A-10C (+ A-10C II), P-47D, P-51D, C-101, Yak-52, WWII Assets, CA, NS430, Hawk. Mick F Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 Would be fantastic if the track took account of Helios inputs as well!
cichlidfan Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 Perhaps if they got tracks to work reliably first, might be a better approach before trying to add features to a completely broken system. SharpeXB Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 It would be great to have these improvements as well: In tracks from multiplayer, where external views are disabled. The external views should be enabled in the replay track. It's always interesting to watch the action again with externals and see other aircraft and targets. Movie making isn't very interesting when it's confined to the cockpit. Another needed improvement is to have the replay keep your in-game head movements. Currently as soon as you switch the camera, say to F2 external, you lose the head movements transitioning back to F1. This also makes it very difficult to create interesting videos. i9-14900KS | ASUS ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO | 64GB DDR5 5600MHz | iCUE H150i Liquid CPU Cooler | ASUS TUF GeForce RTX 4090 OC | Windows 11 Home | 2TB Samsung 980 PRO NVMe | Corsair RM1000x | LG 48GQ900-B 4K OLED Monitor | CH Fighterstick | Ch Pro Throttle | CH Pro Pedals | TrackIR 5
cichlidfan Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 It would be great to have these improvements as well: ... The first item can be solved easily enough, by unzipping the track file (rename it to .zip first) then editing the options file. For the second. If you are movie making, you should always keep a virgin copy of the track, or video the unaltered track, from the F1 view before doing anything else with it. I am not disagreeing, just pointing out a work around for each issue. SharpeXB Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 The first item can be solved easily enough, by unzipping the track file (rename it to .zip first) then editing the options file. Thanks I'll try that For the second. If you are movie making, you should always keep a virgin copy of the track, or video the unaltered track, from the F1 view before doing anything else with it. Yes, that's what I do now, it's just rather tedious. Without the ability to rewind, filling in the external shots is difficult. i9-14900KS | ASUS ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO | 64GB DDR5 5600MHz | iCUE H150i Liquid CPU Cooler | ASUS TUF GeForce RTX 4090 OC | Windows 11 Home | 2TB Samsung 980 PRO NVMe | Corsair RM1000x | LG 48GQ900-B 4K OLED Monitor | CH Fighterstick | Ch Pro Throttle | CH Pro Pedals | TrackIR 5
SharpeXB Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 (edited) The first item can be solved easily enough, by unzipping the track file (rename it to .zip first) then editing the options file. Ok I renamed the trk file to .zip Found the Options file and edited External views to "true" But renaming the .zip back to .trk didn't make a file that DCS can recognize it seems. Did I do something incorrect? SharpeXB Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 That should have worked, IIRC. What program do you edit the Options file with? Notepad? I notice when I save the file after editing it does not replace the old Options file, it's a different format then, right? i9-14900KS | ASUS ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO | 64GB DDR5 5600MHz | iCUE H150i Liquid CPU Cooler | ASUS TUF GeForce RTX 4090 OC | Windows 11 Home | 2TB Samsung 980 PRO NVMe | Corsair RM1000x | LG 48GQ900-B 4K OLED Monitor | CH Fighterstick | Ch Pro Throttle | CH Pro Pedals | TrackIR 5
cichlidfan Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 Notepad++ https://notepad-plus-plus.org/ Regular Windows Notepad can break files that were not meant for editing. It can insert invisible characters that screw up the file. I sometimes forget that not everyone knows that. Sorry.
