Michaelski Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 (edited) So, I have acquired an F-18 throttle, but its an old one, it has a 37 pin female connector and I need to figure out how to convert it to USB. Does a connector like that even exist? Edited March 24, 2016 by Michaelski
rocketsmith Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 I can't see your photos so all I can do is suggest ebay: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2047675.m570.l1311.R1.TR3.TRC1.A0.H1.X37+pin.TRS0&_nkw=37+pin+connector&_sacat=0 I'm guessing you want to install the USB board somewhere external to the throttle, otherwise you wouldn't need a 37-pin connector for a USB line?
cichlidfan Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 Without knowing what is going on, electronically, inside the throttle, it would be impossible to create a 37pin to USB adapter. For that reason, I sincerely doubt that a commercial product exists for converting military hardware to USB. Deadman Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 get rid of the Amphenol connector/ cannon connector they are expensive and have key ways that line up if they don't well it is a pain in the but and the connector does not fit. I would suggest you get a I/O board perhaps a http://www.leobodnar.com/products/BU0836/ other have used these and there are plenty of tutorials on line trace out the switches on you real Throttle and connect it all up and there ya go. https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.
FeistyLemur Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 Wow, so what do they charge for those things?
Sokol1_br Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 (edited) I can't see your photos https://www.dropbox.com/s/6fsz16zbwd7jeps/20160323_200547.jpg https://www.dropbox.com/s/gu4g8bntxw8tq7x/20160323_200607.jpg By the pictures are controls done for simulator - similar to Budgeye - with what looks a DB-25 connector for plug in external USB (?) controller - no Amphenol used. Need trace how are internal connections before all, for plan what do. EDIT - The label say "High Rev Simulators" - seems this brand (Hirevsim) was sold for other at some years ago. Deadman Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 High Rev Simulators was sold to http://www.bugeyetech.com/ several years ago. Looks to be a D sub 37 pin to me thanks for the pic https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.
Sokol1_br Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 Well, if OP want a "PnP" solution, contact Budgeyetech, maybe their interface card are compatible with this Hirevsim model. http://www.bugeyetech.com/#!bt-interface-products/c1tvm But expect pay "half dozen" of Warthog in one - as this is made for military market... :P The way is "DIY". ;)
Deadman Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 So we agree https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.

Well outside the budget of any normal individual. You'd really only use them if you were building a full simulation setup for the military, or a high-end aviation training company. My local flight school has a simulator that counts for some of your IFR hours, and it's way lower quality than my warthog at home. --gos My liveries, mods, and missions for DCS:World M-2000C English Cockpit | Extra Beacons Mod | Nav Kneeboard | Community A-4E
SkateZilla Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 Their Products usually run 2.5K + They are Designed for Pro Simulators, not Home Consumer/Desktops Windows 10 Pro, Ryzen 2700X @ 4.6Ghz, 32GB DDR4-3200 GSkill (F4-3200C16D-16GTZR x2), ASRock X470 Taichi Ultimate, XFX RX6800XT Merc 310 (RX-68XTALFD9) 3x ASUS VS248HP + Oculus HMD, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS + MFDs
FeistyLemur Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 I dunno, if I was going to go to the trouble of making a full sim cockpit I'd strongly consider paying 2.5k for their stuff.
Michaelski Posted March 25, 2016 Author Posted March 25, 2016 Thanks for your input guys! I'll keep you updated!
