mx22 Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 Thanks for reminding us and a great video; can't believe it's been 20 years! I still recall getting demo of the original Flanker in one of the gaming magazines and then scrambling to buy the full game... Thanks ED for all the fun and great memories!
Koriel Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 Flanker 1.0 was released in 1995 http://www.mobygames.com/game/su-27-flanker And I think I got the dos demo already in '94. But it's been a few years so I might be wrong there.

Home Fries Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 Flanker was the first flight model I can recall where the AoA was so integral to performance. Before that, it seemed like dogfighting consisted of putting the lift vector on your bandit and pulling the stick into your lap. Flanker was the first sim that made me think about max sustained turns vs. max instantaneous turn. FLANKERATOR Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 We all got used to taking ED's endeavor for granted, though let's not forget that there are many gaming genres out there with million of players (potential customers) worldwide. Yet, these guys have chosen to stick with us and it's been two decades of dedication to one of the smallest yet very demanding gaming niches, thank you ED! Grundar Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 Loved the original Flanker, like many here, got a demo on a PC magazine cover then rushed out and purchased the full version. Flanker 2.0 was beautiful and 2.5 even more so, loved every second of them - much like I love playing DCS now - especially the Flanker and the WW2 birds.
