Captain Orso Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 I'm only using Trackir and not snapview. Aside that it seems somehow weird since the 1.5.4 ob update, one specific thing is that I cannot turn my view over my shoulder in either direction past about 3/4 of the way around, regardless of how I configure Trackir. It simply hits a point and stops rotating the view. When you hit the wrong button on take-off System Specs. Flamin_Squirrel Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 1.5.4 introduced some head tracking bugs (in VR too). This is probably what you're experiencing.

Not sure if that head-movement limit is a bug or a feature... seems as if our head tracker now limits the rotation to that of an actual human's neck. Captain Orso Posted June 30, 2016 Author Posted June 30, 2016 I kind thought of that, and it may be what they are aiming for, but it doesn't take into account turning your upper torso to look over your shoulder :( When you hit the wrong button on take-off System Specs. Capn kamikaze Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 For some reason TrackIR is also moving external views about.
rrohde Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 I kind thought of that, and it may be what they are aiming for, but it doesn't take into account turning your upper torso to look over your shoulder :( Yeah, that's the only downside of that, I agree! Captain Orso Posted July 1, 2016 Author Posted July 1, 2016 Yeah, that's the only downside of that, I agree! 8< The real downside is that you cannot even to a proper control-surface check anymore, because you cannot see your own tail while sitting on the ground  Even worse, if you cannot look behind you while flying, how are you supposed to react to an enemy coming up behind you. You're blind!! I can see them restricting you from turning past 180° left or right, maybe even 170°, but this is a game-breaker. ED Please, PLEASE fix this!! :( When you hit the wrong button on take-off System Specs. N1tch Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 This was a known bug right? Did you check the post on 'Slanted' view? Also I believe that bug was fixed in the OB release today.
Captain Orso Posted July 1, 2016 Author Posted July 1, 2016 Without having read all of the 170 posts at the time, it appeared to be a different issue. At any rate, SkateZilla found the solution, and Shahdoh put it into JSGME format, which can be found here: [REPORTED] Slanted side view when using TiR in latest 1.5.4. OB. Post #134 I've already tried this out, and it fixes all the issue which I had  When you hit the wrong button on take-off System Specs. rrohde Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 Yeah, the slanted view issue is gone; however, the limited head turning is still there. Again, not sure of intended feature or bug... See: "over the shoulder" fix for track IR is not included to this update , but fixed already in internal version ( together with combined arms TIR and VR sight camera ) . DarkFire Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 The view angle limitation may be a realistic feature for certain aircraft. I remember this topic coming up for question waaaay back in the days of Su-27 Squadron Commanders Edition ('96? 97 possibly?). The answer then was that in the Su-27 the pilot is strapped in so securely that twisting their upper torso is impossible, and the pilot's view angle is therefore limited by head rotation. Glad the slanted view angle got fixed! Captain Orso Posted July 4, 2016 Author Posted July 4, 2016 With the temporary-fix I previously posted > [REPORTED] Slanted side view when using TiR in latest 1.5.4. OB. Post #134 < , which still works wonderfully at 1.5.4.54316.106, in the P-51D you have a limitation. You cannot turn your view more than about 180° in either direction, and that is realistic. If other aircraft have other limitations, those should be modeled into the aircraft. When you hit the wrong button on take-off System Specs. jcbak Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 I'm experiencing the same thing. When I returned from checking the controls menu, I had a message stating, "Head Tracker has been disabled." Schmidtfire Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 I also got some problems with headtracking in 1.5.4. I can not look back at my six o' clock anymore... Head-movements seems more sluggish and slow. Tracking (input) died after a short time when flying Mirage and Mig21. I am using EDtracker pro. Works great with release 1.5.3 and DCS 2 Open Alpha.
SkateZilla Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 I dont think EDTracker is supported, AFAIK, the Only supported Tracking Devices are: Track IR Oculus VR HMDs Vive VR HMDs Windows 10 Pro, Ryzen 2700X @ 4.6Ghz, 32GB DDR4-3200 GSkill (F4-3200C16D-16GTZR x2), ASRock X470 Taichi Ultimate, XFX RX6800XT Merc 310 (RX-68XTALFD9) 3x ASUS VS248HP + Oculus HMD, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS + MFDs
Schmidtfire Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 Supported or not, EDTracker has always worked great but not anymore. Obviously, something went wrong with views in the 1.5.4 open beta patch (for non VR users). I'll have a closer look and see if I can re-configure my settings once 1.5.4 release is out.
Captain Orso Posted July 4, 2016 Author Posted July 4, 2016 If you can turn your head 180 in both directions then you can see straight behind you. Perhaps you meant 90. No, with the fix I listed implemented, you can turn your view about 180°, from straight ahead, to practically straight behind. When you hit the wrong button on take-off System Specs.
