Recommended Posts

same here...25fps in Su-25T taxiing....better during flight but significant drop of fps across all modules tested in 1.5.4 stable release.

Huge performance drop here too.

I have DCS World stable version installed in two different computers and they both have drop in fps.

Deleted the options.lua but that didn't help.

I think the cause of this is that, the game now draws all the very distant trees and buildings even with the default "zoom"/FOV level.

Only short temporary fps drops here, even down to 8-10, with the Mirage and MIG-21, especially cockpit views.

Much more annoying the slow responsiveness of the menus, settings, mission editor,

sometimes clicking ok or open etc takes up to 10 seconds.

Open Beta has better performance than Stable version for some reason.

Indeed. 1.5.3 was/is 10-15 fps faster on average and more in some cases than 1.5.4 stable with all of the same settings.

Fwiw, my performance has pretty much stayed consistent throughout the versions.

1.5.4 performs worse for me too. This seems to be an interesting effect of updates, that one version performs good, and next might be bad, and yet another one may perform good again, had this quite a few times since I've started DCS. There have also been occations where some people said their DCS is performing worse for an update but I do not experience such an issue, this effect of a version perofrming worse seems not to be universal among people. Probably it will improve on the next version.

+1..about 1/3 more fps in Ka-50, 100% same reproducable scene on BuddySpike , 65fps vs high 95fps last night.

25fps Su25T taxiing speaks for itself.

Are you guys having issues in MP? I'm not sure about this but I felt a little, but a very little performance increase in the last 1.5.4, but again, not sure. Since this version has bugs that I don't want to fly with, I didn't test it flying in multiplayer.

However, the performance, having an increase or not, is good, even though I would love my tree shadow option back, but have no idea why ED removed.

It might be just an impression thinking better. (I don't know, but it doesn't feel worse for me).

Hey, fellas. Last night (in the latest version) I decided to Create a Fast Mission in the F-15C with difficulty set at MEDIUM and all other options RANDOM. Clicked FLY and....my word. My FPS were dropping to as low as 9 and 10, something that has never happened to me since the implementation of EDGE. I thought this was odd, so I saved the mission and then reverted my DCS version back to the latest 1.5.3 stable version and....viola: Same mission, with framerates never dropping below the upper 30s/low 40s and VERY playable. Graphic settings were kept the same for both tests. I know this post may prove to be moot depending on what comes out today, but seriously: what is the deal with the 1.5.4 release that effects FPS so drastically?

PS - I'm happy to post the mission file if anyone wants to take a look.
