So I was spending my short life looking at aircraft panel fasteners, I learned that the A-10 uses DZUS D5 series fasteners. These aren't screws. They're something much cooler, they're quarter turn fasteners.

This means that in order to take them out all you have to do is rotate the fastener 90 degrees and out it comes.

So I was in the A-10 flying around distributing various organs and bodily fluids of multitudes of Russian tankers across the fields of The Republic of Georgia.

And that's when my world was turned upside down, my tranquil murderous zen state was broken by the angle of the fasteners holding the panels on inside the A-10, they were random. Random as though they were some palty screw. Not a glorious DZUS D5 series quarter turn fastener. Had Eagle Dynamics not been haphazardly assuming these fasteners were screws then all of the slots in them would be aligned. Not jutting off at random angles. The nerve that Eagle Dynamics has to call themselves purveyors of "simulators" and yet the skip over this detail. AS YOU CAN PLAINLY SEE in my attached picture the slot clearly aligns with the end of the channel in the fastener. Therefore, all of the slots SHOULD be parallel. How will I ever become immersed in this "simulation" now knowing that the fasteners are not right? Think of the three's of people who have attempted to take off a panel with the errant knowledge supplied by none other than Eagle Dynamics that these fasteners are screws? Think of the time lost! 10's of seconds!

I demand a formal apology.

You're complete disregard of the possibility of the lugs being at different angles angers me.

You sir are in for a savage telling off. :P

Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two.

Come let's eat grandpa!

Hmmm...that's interesting, although I wonder what type of screw is this behind the fire ext. pull handle(as it doesn't appear to be round)...

Every USAF jet I was in, if the cockpit panel dzus fasteners were locked in, the slot was horizontal. If vertical, it was unlocked. Easy to see if a panel was just laying in place and not secured down. Not fun to unload and have a panel fly up in the cockpit!

A swiss army knife was perfect for securing the odd loose dzus.

Maybe we need that capability in DCS? Virtual dzus panels?
