[REPORTED]Crash to desktop after today update

i did some extensive testing yesterday. loading the "instant action" mission into the editor can circumvent the CTDs.

simply loading the mission from the main menu often results in a crash. however trying to load it over and over again, sometimes seems to work.

the free "flight mission" crashes less than the "cold start". maybe it has something to do with flicking switches?

I don't know how but after several crashes etc I don't get a crash anymore, short mission and exit. Even when on exit I don't get a crash. Haven't tested on MP yet.

DCS MiG-21Bis by Leatherneck Simulations

  • Updates forgotten for update 5 now included in update 6.
  • RSBN lateral deviation in DESCEND (PROBIVANIE) mode is now displayed.
  • RSBN and ARK sounds can now play simultaneously if selected.
  • Fixed pressurized/depressurized sounds when canopy is jettisoned.
  • Added collision modeling for drop tanks.

Every time my game crashes, I can hear the sound of release from the hydro system/canopy/breaks (or a similar one, sounds like depressurisation) just before CTD. This is the latest changelog (quoted). I believe the problem is item #4.

Anyway, I'd look into these things first.

Guys I have had some success after re-saving the mission in the editor.

For example the instant action cold start mission was crashing 100% for me, after re-saving in the editor it is working.

might be a fluke, but worth a try

edit:

I was wrong still crashing, but works better if loaded from mission editor

I can confirm, I need to re-save the mission in the editor and it works fine. It's worth to try guys..

I am having the same issue with the most current 1.5.4 version and 2.03, crashes to desktop. The only thing that changed that I know of is patching the game, however I have not tried the mig-21 module for the last several patches.

I'll chime in here as well, Not sure if it's related.

I've been able to fly the 21 around a bit on 104th.

For me it appears to be more forgiving if i load into another aircraft first, then switch to the 21. I remember the hawk having an issue where this could help, quite random.

Once in the air, i switched radar from standby to on, i watched as the

framerate dropped progressively to the single digits. flicking the switch a few more times seems to alleviate a little. (was about 20km S/E maykop very low).

If i load up the 21 right away and go fly. switching the radar on will once more(randomly) cause fps to plummet, until it drowns the cpu out,gfx updates stop, sim stalls out, no crash error for me.

Unfortunately, no DCS logs for me due to the nature of the crash.

Specs however

I7 950@4.4 (stock clock didn't help-tested)

Thanks for all the support so far LN ;)

I'm not sure what i did to fix this crashing bug,but i can now load and fly my own single missions (resaved to the latest version)

Need further testing.

Tarres seems to be onto something....

seems to be cockpit textures related.

My steps:

1-download and install the "MIG-21bis clean cockpit textures(english version) and activate "custom cockpit livery" in the MIG-21bis "DCS special" option page.

link:https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/1703560/

On first attempt crash to desktop :-(

2-unzip the file named "MiG-21_Cockpit" located in

"your hard drive letter":\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\aircraft\MIG-21bis\Textures -maybe not related or necessary?

3-Turn off the "custom cockpit livery" option

I then was able to load an fly a couple mission without the crash :-)

I then installed and activated the Russian version of the "MIG-21bis cockpit clean version"

over the English version and still no crash :-)

I also increased my system memory today from 8gig to 16gig today:

is this a factor i don't know?

Your experience may vary!
