  1. As always those maximum mach numbers are a best case scenario and in most cases the missile will not even get close to it. But in a best case scenario it can. I got the R.530s to go mach 3, though that is from a jet going Mach 2. And getting the F1 to mach 2 with a full missile load takes a while. Tacview calls the 530s R3 btw.
  2. Its reliable in DCS as well as long as you fly the plane right.
  3. Mine pretty much always relights, as long as it isnt damaged. Are you sure your engine is only flamed out and not destroyed? You can destroy the engine when going to fast for example.
  4. I do love those threads. Ed has years of reasearch and coding, SME's that have flown the real thing as a job and access to the real helicopter and so on. But no, they are wrong and my proof is that i saw a Youtube video of a Hind..... Honestly, do you really believe that? BTW, i have no problem with either takoff or landing.
  5. Yeah, the ZSU-23-4 shilka is indeed radar guided. The ZU-23-2 this thread is about is not.
  6. As has been pointed out, its not the ZU-23-2 specifically. Any Ground unit even set at lowest skill will be way to accurate when engaging air. Even M113s with their single M2 while driving at full speed or soldiers firing Ak-74s. Especially noticable when flying helicopters. The problem is that the ground AI is extremly simpel. They get a perfect Lead from the game and than a random mumber generator decides if they aim right at this this perfect lead point or slightly miss it. However the game makes no difference between what kind of target they shoot at. So the Ground AI will hit or miss a stationary tank just as often as a helicopter flying at 300 kp/h. None of that is a secret or new information, the AI has many problems and ED says they will improve it in the future.

    Lets save some lives!
  8. You can remove the boxes in the Mission Editor. But i agree that this would be better as a special option.
  9. He, the old airpower.at site. I remember that from back in the day. Mind you that the page you linked is almost 20 years old and only shows planned weapons.
  10. The Gun, a M134, was mounted on the side on the early Kiowas. Like on the Loach. The Bundesheer here in Austria still uses Choppers in this configuration. They are OH-58Bs, the export variant of the A.
  11. I like it so far. Power to weight ratio is a bit lower than the D-9, so its a bit slower. But it is the most armored WW2 plane we have in DCS right now, and short of getting the IL-2 that will stay that way. It has good firepower and its amazing in a dive. It can keep its maneuverbility up to very high speeds. Making it great for diving attacks since it can still maneuver and aim at targets quite well at very high speeds. Its not good at slow speed turning though.

    i had too ;)

I guess the best tradeoff would be to make the glass and frame thinner on the internal model to reduce the bars on the sides and mount the gunsight a bit higher so you can look above the lower bar.

    i had too ;)

I would also hope for a solution in that direction. But i dont think its that straightforward. Making the Bar smaller would include raising the position of the whole cockpit, at least the internal model of it. The outer Armor glass ends right at the cowlin. So making the glass thinner alone wont be enough, you would still have the engine cowling in the way.
  14. Very good, thats what we wanted to know. ;)
  15. The Problem is the versions of the Planes in DCS. The FW-190 was a feared opponent when it was new, but just like the BF 109 it was harder and harder for the FW-190 to keep up with newer allied planes because the germans did not have the same high quality fuel the allies had. Tha A-8 is also not the greates fighter version of the FW-190, it got lots of armor and good Weapons, but because of this extra armor its heavier than earlier FW-190, making it less maneuverable and even giving it a lower Power to weight ratio than some older FW-190s. With C3/MW-50 injection the power at low altitude should be similar to that of the Dora, but it seems we dont have those (yet?).
  16. Well, its a fan, its spinning. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bzoEs2VtVYI
  17. If you fight it the right way, but if you get cought by it at slow speed or try to turn with it you will have a bad day. The I-16 has the lowest wingloading of any of the DCS WW2 fighters, even the Spitfire MkIX. So it can turn tight. And, while it has only 1100HP maximum, its also very light, so its power to weight ratio is not bad at all for a 1939 plane. Its achilles heel is its very slow top speed, it just cant catch any of the other planes as long as they keep their speed somewhat high. But, if they fail to do that....

    I-16

The Type 24 is the most produced version of the I-16, so there were a few variations. As far as i know the plane originally had 4x SchKAS 7.62mm. Later at least a few got 2x SchWAK 20mm. The Plane was also produced with different engines. Originally the M-62 and later again at least a few with M-63, like the one we have. Mind you i am not 100% sure about that, i dont have a real good Book on the I-16. (if you know of one that is available, plz tell me)
  19. Using the toe brakes its ok. But you do need to react quickly.
