So how well does Asynchronous Space Warp work in DCS?

They should lock at 45 with ctrl np3. It is not compatable with 7xx series cards. I'm also not sure it works with dk2

Of course! :music_whistling: :music_whistling: :music_whistling: I've been really reluctant to take my main system to Win10 just to see what this ASW does. I've done three machines this weekend...sighs...getting tired of downloads upon downloads :joystick:

Thank you for the information, though :) :thumbup:

Derek to confirm look at the log file under (C:\Users\*USERNAME*\AppData\Local\Oculus\Service_*LATEST DATE*.txt) and search for 'asw' and see what it says.

EDIT: I know what you mean about w10. My system just randomly crashes and reboots a few times a day since I "upgraded". No idea why and I see Google is full of people with the same problem. I've yet to find a solution.

This autoupdate "feature" is the MAIN reason why I am reluctant to go to W10 enterprise wide. I do like it much better than W7, however, save for the inability to disable updates like with W7-8.1; that's a BIG neg for me. Like many power users, I like to keep a firm grip on my PC's to keep them from "rebooting" and other things causing me excessive life stress.

During the "upgrade" to W10 it will ask if you want to do an upgrade or a fresh install. Do the fresh install but keep in mind that you can then NOT go back to W7-8 through a simple system restore.

So take a full backup before you do the fresh install.

I always do a full "SYSWIPE" when I redo computers. It's the best way to go, something many have learned to do the hard way ;)

I did a completely clean install from disc. Formatted all my drives reinstalled everything from scratch..... still have random daily crashes. It's like the power goes out then the system reboots. Lots of people with the same problem all over the net and none of the power management fixes suggested work. No hardware changes on the system since Windows 7 which was completely stable. Anyway off topic I guess.

@Fru:

You can configure W10 to stop the autoupdating by making changes in the Group Policies. Here's how to do it:

http://www.pcworld.com/article/3085136/windows/two-ways-to-control-or-stop-windows-10-updates.html

Notify for d/l and notify for install are better than apply them automatically. ;)

I'm concluding that the DK2 doesn't do ASW even with W10...ho hum. I'll confirm it once I take this box (in my sig) to W10. I decided to do it...though still procrastinating :P

Oh mine is a straight crash about once or twice a day. Not a shutdown and update! Ha. I'm still searching for the cause. Event viewer isn't helping. Google w10 crash and restart and you'll see I'm not alone.

When?

I have autoupdating off on this box's OH installation. I hope to contain it at 1.9 until...well, forever...I'll roll back to 0800 if that's what it takes, but that will likely run out of time eventually.

I was thinking on this over dinner :smartass: I feel there's something going on with OC settings, or something...memory configurations could cause it as well if there is something not perfectly in line with what the bios wants.

I ran memtest. Checked my drives for errors. Removed all overclocking. Removed XMP on the ram. Removed all power saving options in W10 and it still just clicks off and restarts about 15mins after startup. Once I boot back up it stays running fine until I restart again. No temp problems and no voltage fluctuation observed in hardware monitor.

I'm thinking now it's my motherboard. Msi gd65 gaming. There is a bios update available but when I try to flash it from USB the uefi just hangs. No progress bar and no input devices work. I have to restart.

My next step would be to reset the BIOS to factory defaults and then try to flash again. If that didn't work, I'd pull the batter from the MB and clear CMOS and try the flash again. If that didn't work, I'd contact them for support.

This ASW better be good...I've gone full nerd this week updating to W10 enterprise wide...gah! I'm presently doing my DCS/iRacing box, and so far it's been a breeze. I'm on to installing DCS so I'll report more later. *crossing fingers*

@Derek,

I am still using a DK2 and I'm not sure but it sounds like ASW is not supported on it. Not sure if you could easily try yours or not. Perhaps you have read about this issue. I am already on Win10.

Thanks

The DK2 is not supported for ASW. I read this somewhere. I'm running the DK2 on our Demo Chassis with W10. I need to make a check but I am 99% ASW isn't functional for the DK2.

I just checked the setup running the DK2 with the registry changes. No ASW for the DK2. I'm disappointed that they will stop supporting it. The DK2 is really good!
