Loaded for whom? Is it possible to not despawn them and leave them on the map always?

If player joins the server at the end of 2nd hour, i'd expect that when he joins, he'll get all AC models loaded to him. If they've despawned 5 secs into the mission, you haven't helped.

 

I think the common belief is that the server machine having to load the models for the first time during the mission is what is causing the pause...not individual player machines having to load the models.

Don't you think it would benefit the player too? All of his spawn lag would occur as he joined the mission mid-session at a non-crucial time, instead of when another player spawns in a AC model that's new to his machine at some other random point during the mission.

That's the point of always having them on the map placed at some far off corner.

It's not up to me or about what I think is beneficial. I'm just stating what I have perceived as the common consensus as a cause/solution to the spawning-in-pause problem.

My game crashed today when lots of players were online and I was flying the Gazelle Mistral for 10 minutes, when I saw an enemy Huey below me my game just crashed... Anyone else? Or did server crash?

I noticed this too. Every players have different hardware on their computer. Low system spec could cause lag. Last year when I didnt have SSD and low RAM (8GB) it created long time loading in MP that I got banned from 104th server :D

Long time loading resulted in lag, spiking and unstable connection I believe

Unfortunately literally everything can cause DCS to lag (slow / long connections etc) but ED have done a great job with server stability since the multiplayer test. It's very rare for a server crash now.

 

The aircraft are all loaded at the start of the mission to avoid SERVER lag, as if the server is lagging, everyone lags / warps around while it pauses to load a model.

 

From the testing I've done it seems you don't need to leave the model up, once loaded, the server is happy and clients will either load it anyway on entering the server or they're loading a low poly quick one anyway as there doesn't appear to be lag client side when spawning aircraft as people slot in.

 

Made the change late late night for Defenders spawn so thy'll spawn within a 20m circle of the center of the base. If you see any odd spawn locations for them, please let me know :)

This is what kills me with blueflag. Do I login to a gang bang or circle jerk? Maybe we need a PVE setup for blue players.

 

I just don't understand why blue is so dedicated to one side. I would like to fly the gazelle sometime but cant justify going blue with the numbers being so one sided. But then there is days like this where I don't want to even log on.

 

Next round Ill be selfish and go blue and play PVE

If the player counts and minutes per-session were tracked, you'd see the Red/Blue player counts shift due to time zone and night of the week. Not all Squads play on the same night of the week. The guys I fly with seem to prefer Thursday nights and Saturday nights. They fly other sims other nights of the week. Try visiting the server on a different night of the week for a comparison.

Thrud, I have been playing for a very long time. I know it shifts, but blue has the majority by far. The difference is red doesn't need that much of player count to start to get things going. Blue needs less than 5 red on to do anything.

Neither does blue... for the SNAFU from your screen, only 2 people where responsible. Raptor (A10c) and me (Huey). We cleaned out the entire pack 1 in 2 hours (I finished capturing Anapa at the end of the session, in the Huey I spawned from Krasnaya, north of Sochi...). People only started joining in after the server restart, when the entire coast was already blue.

 

Exactly the same as happens on the red team. Every evening blue grabs stuff, and every morning when I check, they lost it again while seeing Variac and maybe one or two others on making a massive push back.

I think this is very indicative for the state the BF 'community' has been in for a while. Any issue simply has to be mixed with some 'friendly banter' e.g. 'your side can not x', 'your side always does Y'. In case you haven't noticed, that is not friendly banter but baiting. Baited people will 'friendly banter' (which it isn't) back and nobody ever talked about the issue you wanted to talk about.

 

Why not cut this needless shit? Do you honestly believe that red is the holy side, where skill flows and nobody ever teamstacked? If yes, sorry that is not the case. If not, why bombard your own argument?

 

Honestly, I am afraid to log into the server because of how toxic this has become. And with this I specifically don't mean the person I quoted but the community at large. (Sorry if it sounds as if I bash on your^^)

Just recaptured Krymsk (flying RED) and we still haven't received a message for that. Dropped a repair crate and it was'nt delivered as supposed to. A friendly Huey did the same and nothing happened still although we could rearm and refuel but not spawn. Weird stuff...

At night Red does outnumber blue but there is still blue on. As you seen today at Krasnodar, one red can stop your push. In fact two RVE guys is all it took to stop blue. Good thing they weren't blue this time. I give credit to TWB and RVE guys for switching sides or it would be all blue like it used to be a couple of rounds ago. Numbers were actually even today after blue started logging off. I am guessing they didn't want to fly the far distances required to reach the front today. Usually the front is within 60nm for them.

 

Sorry if I offended you ApoNOOB. Of course it was only my opinion. I have played both red and blue quite a bit. What I see is Red likes to capture and defend. They seem to have more dedicated helo pilots. Blue likes to furball. They don't seem to care as much about the fronts and just up fighters. Like Crasho said, it was only two of them capturing bases. Blue does seem to have better communication but less organization. Only the day shift when its 30 blue vs 10 red do I see things getting coordinated until they start to meet resistance. Again this is just my opinion from playing on both sides and getting to know the players. This is me generalizing and not all blue are furballers and not all red are capers.

There was also a substantial amount of lag during that session. It lasted for 5 to 10 minutes and then went away. Not sure what caused it.

Same thing with Anapa! Oh man flying all that time and not being able to recapture the airbases -___- We destroyed everything. No message to confirm that and no enemy troops spawning as the last defending units. I Landed still and dropped the troops and of course nothing happened. Please check out the script for that. Was really disappointing.

I think there was a change for where the troops were supposed to spawn. Maybe they broke the spawn script for troops? Of course this is only speculation on my part.

I got up this morning to see that Red had finally captured Krymsk, so Im wondering if we just needed to take a JTAC to find the troops. I have a real sneaking feeling that someone is setting an object to ROE green and hiding it in the building or trees.

 

Can blue try to take Krymsk again today? :)

From the logs i checked last night, it looked like you hadn't destroyed everything so you couldnt capture. The fact its now captured seems to confirm :)

 

DCS controls repair & rearm at an airfield so it possible that you can do that, even if its not in your coalition depending on DCS. Should be rare though.

 

The final say on if there are defenders or not is PAK info. If it says defenders present there are troops of some kind in the capture area.

 

Thanks for the reports though - can you do a Pak Info screenshot if you want to report possible future bugs? helps me debug as well :)

 

Another good test is bombers, they will find targets no matter what. Jtac is also very helpful but it must have line of sight to report an enemy.

 

Just FYI- no TF51D at Krymsk when its RED.

Anapa was literally the first base added to the new scripts so there is probably a wrongly named group. I'll check.

 

The capture code is the same for all bases - I can also see Uckulan just got capped so its working in general which is good.

 

Server will be updated shortly to the new 1.5.7 so dont forget to update if you cant see the server
