The magic pylons do not have the new mode with the sensors yet.

D2M indicators only remain dark if the switch is in the A (OFF) position.

If the D2M is not available, the lights will blink with the switch in the M (ON) position.

You need to load magics in the outer.

Beyond that I will need a track file to check.

If the problem persist create a thread in the BUG subforum.

Note: I just tested the released aircraft with my "Suicide by SAM" mission. And I got the DDM screaming at me.

I tested it again and again and eventually found the problem. PEBKAC (as always) :D

The culprit was a mod I was running (Werewolf's M-2000C Nightvision mod). It missed the changes made to devices and devices_init.lua (DDM_IND) what caused it remove them, and thus removing their functionality.

All is good now

I'm glad you solved your problem.

Hi Zeus !

As said by Esac_mirmidon DDM don't work with manpad.

With Strela-1 (not tested Strela-10 yet) only first two missiles give a DDM alarm. Last two missiles don't give DDM alarm.

I made two tracks to show it's not because of a DDM blind zone (imho).

This is a current DCS problem. MANPADS have almost no smoke and do not trigger the MWS in the A-10C either.

I have the same problem with the detection line being quite different from the Actual direction of launch.

Also i have sometimes the warning sound with no line at all.

Posted

It seems that the first one ore two launch are detected and pointed in the RWR, the next ones had only the tone warning but no lines, when the missiles are launched in quick sucession.

It's a bit odd, I have a missile launched directly at 12 o' clock with me banking slightly left but it shows it's coming from my 10-11 o' clock on RWR, using Zeus's mission. Then I tested a quick put together mission and like others manpads are not seen and RWR shows the threat position almost opposite of where it's actually launched.

By the way i was killed by R27ET with no warning at all despite the d2m was ON of course. It happened 2 times.

What happen in detail those missiles have huge range and if the missile went in the DDM range with no engine burning ofc it wouldn't detect it and this considering that was launched WITHIN DDM track area

It also happened with aim9m too. And many times with r27. That feature seems to works only when it wants...

It work as it should, it will not always detect missiles. Range, angle of the plane, angle of the missile, active motor or not, type of missile... are the variables that makes the detection possible or not.

From my tests, it works as expected.

If you are sure it is a bug please provide à track so we can look at it. ;)

It's not designed to be a magic 100% proof warning tool.

It only detects below your airframe, for instance. It's supposed to be a warning for ground pounders when a IR SAM is launched at them. Not for dogfights.

These sensors are not your magic saviors. What you want exists only in Battlefield games. If implemented properly in DCS they should help sometimes if the threat is in their range and maybe if they are not confused (aka turn them towards the Sun, Explosions, etc).

So don't trust your life to them because you will die most of the times then.

Nah dude it's buggy somewhat, If you try it your self in the mission it will warn you first them then completely ignore following 10 missiles.

Even if you position your self perfectly to detect them

Disregarding time? I think (thought?) that the alarm will be present 10 seconds so maybe after first alarm no other alarm will be given for 10 seconds? Or maybe the bug is here... like the counter doesn't reset after 10 seconds?

I can understand that, but "It didn't warn me about an incoming <Insert AA missile here>" is probably the intended behavior. Let's not complain about something the D2M should NOT do.

The DDM really doesn't care what missile type it is.

It only sees a burning thing and reports it.

IRL such systems are prone to false positives too.

Dammit .... Yes, I know it's not about the missile type ... I'm just saying it's designed (downward looking detection device) for detecting ground-based missiles, and having air to air missiles not detected is probably most of the time normal behaviour (BFM mostly include turning into your opponent, which means he will be on your upward hemisphere) and should not be reported as a bug.
