Oscar Juliet Posted February 18, 2017 Posted February 18, 2017 It has been a month or so since I flew the A10c. I updated 2.0 and got in the cockpit. I noticed a beeping noise. Almost sounded like some kind of beacon coming through the radio. I started hot on the ramp and didn't touch anything. I tried to change radio frequencies but it still persisted. Did they change something I'm not familiar with? Anyone have any idea what could make a beacon type beeping. My Youtube Channel
cthulhu68 Posted February 18, 2017 Posted February 18, 2017 I've noticed same thing. It's the sound you here in F-5 all the time. Morse Code like. I don't know much about NAV aids but I think its called TACAN.
Oscar Juliet Posted February 18, 2017 Author Posted February 18, 2017 Always a way to make things go quiet. So I'm trying to figure out how to mute it or turn it off. My Youtube Channel

majapahit Posted February 18, 2017 Posted February 18, 2017 (edited) That's a beacon beep most probably, so don't meddle with the radio frequencies, but with TACAN and ILS on your right side rear, just switch TACAN DIAL to off, same ILS panel underneath.. You can practice by going to your map F10, locate closest airport and find TACAN freq by clicking on airport symbology, and dial to freq (has X or Y also), forgot about the range but 70-80 miles u should be able to receive the Ident. You also use TACAN to find your air refuel. Yurgon Posted February 18, 2017 Posted February 18, 2017 GRL ... Groom Lake? Yup, sounds plausible. And yeah, what can be heard in that vid definitely sounds like TACAN.
