"Yeah, and though I work in the valley of Death, I will fear no Evil. For where there is one, there is always three. I preparest my aircraft to receive the Iron that will be delivered in the presence of my enemies. Thy ALCM and JDAM they comfort me. Power was given unto the aircrew to make peace upon the world by way of the sword. And when the call went out, Behold the "Sword of Stealth". And his name was Death. And Hell followed him. For the day of wrath has come and no mercy shall be given."

Hi Mate, how are the wing angles now moved? are automatic like the AI MIG-23? or there is a key to change it from 16° to 72° and viceversa?

SFM does not let us control the sweep angles in the current model of the mig, but when i add the new 3d external model then i can model the sweep angle animation with 3dx max.

can you just confirm for us how and where to install hi res skins please

you will see a folder called,Mig-23 additional skins,go into that folder and follow directions.

but its simple,Copy and paste those skins and drop them in your

DCS WORLD/BAZAR/TEMP TEXTURES folder and your done.

Like the F-14 mod?, flaps down move the wings to 16° and flaps up move the wings back?

I have something better planned, my idea is that with 3dx max i will link the sweep wing mechanism to the speedometer of the Cockpit via LUA call , i will dig into that when i am done with the gauges, long road ahead.

I'm waiting for new external model and cockpit, then I will DL the mod to try out, 'cause I believe it's gonna be good.

+1 I am very excited

I was thinking about your idea with changing wings sweep, and here are my thoughts. Was it automatically adjusted to the speed of flight? If yes, then no problem, but I think MiG-23 wasn't that advanced to have automatic system. In Su-22 it's been done manually by pilot. In fight you might want to change wing sweep for higher angle to have better control over the aircraft at low speeds.

In the MIG-23 the wing sweep is manually, watch the 360 link of the cockpit, the handle is at the right of the flaps buttons, from 16° to 72°, but as cubanace stated, the flight model is standard (based in the MIG-29S) and do not affect the perfomance is only for a realistic external view.

Cubanace please, can you always update the first post with the latest link to download the mod? Thanks!

MiG-23 has 3 fixed wing state:

16° - for TO/LND/cruise flight

45° - for dogfighting/aerobatics

72° - for high speed/supersonic flight.

The special system prevented the wing sweep change when the flaps were released and did not allow the flaps to be released with a sweep of more than 21°.

All this features and limitations can be implemented via avLuaDevice.

Custom function commands will override animation parameters for the external model arguments. This animation MP compatible also, all client will see the actual wing sweep state.

I used this lua code as a basis for my own device.

In my case - I have 5 wing states and 2 sweep modes (auto/man), all wing states can be selected by the [<-] [->] button command or via sweep lever axis.
