I have had a break from DCS for many years, treated myself to an Oculus and was reluctant due to the views on the forum stating poor resolution etc, OMG don't listen to any of it, VR is awesome, to be able to sit inside the Aircraft is simply unbelievable and hard to put into words, the situational awareness is cracking. If u live near me and want to try it then pop over ( Cornwall UK )

You were listening to Fri too much . Recently they must have changed something cos I am getting Tally on a pair head on at about 9 -10 miles. One under the TD circle and seeing hIs mate, hence I know I have a sort. This is about right from real life so whatever has changed I like it.

If anyone isn't considering it, they are making a major mistake IMO.

I was long in the camp of "I'll wait until 2nd gen and then I'll make the jump", but I got impatient and decided to give this generation a shot. I'm thankful every day that I did, flying with TrackIR is honestly absolutely awful by comparison.

it have been on my mind some times, but is too expensive for the use. i mean, i would only use it for DCS. ah nice monitor would improve my overall enjoyment in every game and lets be real, its not like i use the pc only for gaming. theres time to chillin and netflix, music, etc.

Money is the only retainer here at least for me.

it cost me $1100 american dollars. its just above my entire salary. I think not going to happen in any time soon.

Meh! I have the Occulus. It looks cool but the visual quality for me is unusable for anything more than routine flying. The only flight sim I use Occuls to fly is Aces High, and even then I have to get pretty close before I can see the airplane shape/attitude.

I think I'll have to try another demo again… i'd love to actually try DCS before I buy though. I recently tried an HTC vive at comic con and did not find the resolution anywhere near what I was hoping it would be.

It was some sort of shooter demo using the hand controllers with space junk flying at me. The level of disappointment was pretty high :(

I intend to eventually purchase an Oculus, but first I need to update my PC, which currently is too weak for VR. Hope to be able to get there soon :)

Build a computer that allows you to max the graphics out, and you most certainly can. On a mediocre rig, no, you cannot...

I got the rift on sale recently, the res is not perfect but the immersion is out of this world!

You are there, really there, you get to see what is "DCS World" it's all around you! I've seen parts of the A-10 I've never seen before, you can even easy see the pinky switch position! lol

You get to appreciate the 3D modeling in person up close, full size!

No regrets here getting it while on sale, been flying a few small mission in the Ka-50 and A-10 to keep the frames up. The first gen VR really suits the confined area's of the car race games, some of these I can set the graphics to high and keep 90 fps, open top racers indy/f1 wow.

DCS will hopefully will get much better with more optimization for both screen and VR, also it would be cool to build missions in DCS with the touch controllers down the road, imagine placing objects while walking around the AO with touch controllers, wish list?
