Great question! An official list would be great. In all the videos so far, the only sign of a squadron is the pilot and RIO helmets are painted in Jolly Rogers colors. That would lead me to believe that VF-103 will be one of the squadrons we will see for the F-14B. I think VF-84 only flew the F-14A

Thanks for the speedy response Cobra! Now out of curiosity will you guys by any chance add any F-14D liveries to the F-14B later on? Unless you guys are going to make a F-14D ;-)

Actually, I'm pretty sure we'll make some right off the bat. Will be an easy transfer to the -D if we get to it down the line!

That's amazing news Cobra! Don't Mind if I ask, but I would love to see if you guys could potentially add the Three current DCS F-14D Squadrons as liveries that are included in the Tomcat Module. That would be so generous of you guys if you did!

Aaaaand segued nicely into a livery request thread. Smooth hehe...:music_whistling:

The following squadrons operated the F-14A+/F-14B:

- VF-11 "Red Rippers"

- VF-32 "Swordsmen"

- VF-74 "Be-Devilers"

- VF-102 "Diamondbacks"

- VF-103 "Sluggers"/"Jolly Rogers"

- VF-142 "Ghostriders"

- VF-143 "Pukin' Dogs"

It's funny, the B-variant was operated exclusively by Atlantic Fleet, while the D-model was operated almost exclusively by Pacific Fleet. Even the squadrons that spent time on both coasts changed between Bs and Ds as they moved from coast to coast.

Don't forget about VF-24 and VF-211 - both Pacific fleet squadrons of CVW-9. :)

But they only completed one cruise before transitioning back to the F-14A. With the force reduction of the early-90s and realization that very few new F-14s would be acquired, the USN decided to consolidate F-14D squadrons in the Pacific fleet and F-14Bs in the Atlantic.

The F-14D only made its final cruise in the Atlantic fleet, moving over to CVW-8 for that last deployment. Otherwise, VF-31 was a long time member of CVW-14 while VF-213 had operated with CVW-11 since the 1960s! Both were Pacific fleet airwings.

Ah, that's right, forgot about VF-24 and VF-211.

The final cruise of the F-14 was epic in that CVW-8 deployed with two Tomcat squadrons, just like they did in the '90s!

Not true. VF-213 was in my Air Wing (CVW-8 ) during the war cruise in 2003 on the TR. VF-31 then joined us for the final Tomcat cruise in 05/06.

Truly superior pilots are those that use their superior judgment to avoid those situations where they might have to use their superior skills.

I'm wondering if we will get only the subdued fleet TPS birds or will we also get the colourful CAG Commander birds too? Since the CAG birds are limited to the commander of the squadron if I'm correct.

In the early 90's even the CAG birds were pretty subdued..

However, as time went on the CAG birds (200/100 modex) were full color with the CO's bird (101/201) being only slightly less colorful.

There were some exceptions to this..

In VF-103 modex 103 was full color (because duh), in VF-213 modex 213 was VERY full color, in fact it's last cruise it was the retro overall gull grey color.
