FSKRipper Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 (edited) If you have a fix for this, you push it out right away. It can't break it anymore than it already is. You have no idea..... As already said, somebody will always complain. For me the Beta is not a version to play with but to test and report bugs. Simply accept that with such a complex software from many different developers bugs will be included in each Version (even stable). It will keep your blood pressure down and prolong your life expectancy. Luckily, I don't, and you COMPLETELY missed my point of what a HotFix is. I HAVE to use beta, or my server will NOT come back after a crash. The release version just isn't stable right now. FSKRipper Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 Am I a software developer? No Do I deal with them? From time to time If you work with them regularly you should at least understand a part of ED's policy... That said I can understand your problems but there will be a reason why ED went back from the Wednesday patches (with 2 days for Hotfixes till weekend). If we are happy with it is written on another sheet of paper. i9 9900K @ 5,0GHz | 1080GTX | 32GB RAM | 256GB, 512GB & 1TB Samsung SSDs | TIR5 w/ Track Clip | Virpil T-50 Stick with extension + Warthog Throttle | MFG Crosswind pedals | Gametrix 908 Jetseat [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Drexx Posted February 2, 2018 Author Posted February 2, 2018 (edited) Hey guys, here is an EXCELLENT example of where a hotfix would be needed, the multiplayer fix for steam right now, build a small patch ONLY fixing the multiplayer part of it and push it, that's a hotfix, don't let you people wait for it like this Do you guys use GIT for development of this game, each patch should have a ticket, a branch of the development build and JUST the code to fix it, this would be really easy to make a hotfix, tag the release and push, without hurting other work (and have perfect comparisons(diffs) of what worked or not). Do I need to post this in Russian in the Russian form?, trying to get this idea into play if it is not. Emmy Posted February 2, 2018 Posted February 2, 2018 I guess I'm showing my age, but I remember when "Alpha" and "Beta" were things the paying public never saw... So I guess the question becomes: Do we applaud ED for letting the wider community contribute to the overall direction and health of DCS, or do we damn them for allowing us to play "behind the curtain?" Would you rather have a say in how things go (which includes a certain degree of frustration / acceptance) or would you rather just take what comes in each patch for a stable version?
