Ground crew in front of aircraft when refueling / rearming.

Would like to have a ground crew present in front of aircraft when you select to refuel and/or rearm so you don't inadvertently forget what your up to.

 

Yea... I've managed to move away while aircraft was still connected. :unsure:

 

 

 

Also it would be cool to have them there while you start up as well. But that's just icing on the cake. I guess permission to taxi would make them go away after startup.

+1 An expansion of AI airfield units would be good, both vehicles and crews.

 

Things like ammo-racks, fuel bowsers, GPUs, GTS units etc.

 

Pushbacks anyone?

that would also be one my main wishes for dcs. it's probably also one of the most costly to implement though.

i hope the new atc system in development is a first step to develop some sort of ground handling logic with vehicles/men responding to ground crew tasking...

 

some civil flight sims have implementations of this either in base game or though addons. some of them are rather sophisticated, but even a a rudementary solution with vehicles and men just spawning in, would boost immersion and authenticity...

That's all I'd go for - maybe some small animations triggered by radio requests (like fuel bowsers pulling up, ammunition crates appearing etc)

Pushbacks? No....

 

The odd jet being towed along the ramp? Absolutely!

 

Well pushbacks are kinda essential for aircraft carrying ships, especially if we're getting modelled hangars/functioning deck lifts, which by the 29/01/2016 newsletter (https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/newsletters/newsletter29012016.html)-) we are. The Tarawa already has a hangar - but still very much WIP

And instead of the "hey, what are you doing?" when we forget that the ground crew are still doing something, we could have a loud bang with a subsequent engine failure caused by ingesting one of the ground crew.

 

Or am I the only one with a pretty morbid sense of humor?

In my head, pushbacks go straight back off gates with jetways at civilian airports.

 

Tugs move jets in every direction around flight decks, in hangar bays and on base ramps.
