Frusheen Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 When moving your head from side to side the clouds also rotate. Observed with max settings. __________________________________________________Win 10 64bit | i7 7700k delid @ 5.1gHz | 32Gb 3466mhz TridentZ memory | Asus ROG Apex motherboard | Asus ROG Strix 1080Ti overclocked Komodosim Cyclic | C-tek anti torque pedals and collective | Warthog stick and throttle | Oculus Rift CV1 | KW-908 Jetseat | Buttkicker with Simshaker for Aviators RiftFlyer VR G-Seat project: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=2733051#post2733051
Spetz Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 Had the same issue for a few versions now. I just ignore it mostly now.
rrohde Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 +1 Along those lines, I've also noticed that the cloud shadows (default - not flat), disappear/reappear when slightly turning my head. Also, when turning my head, I noticed distant clouds pop in and out of view (the same is true for distant ground features, such as mountain tops). Max settings here as well. Sharkku Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 Yeah, I have noticed all this as well. Would love for it to be fixed, but I suspect it isn't an easy fix.
Buckeye Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 Will hopefully be taken care of when the clouds are reworked. Remember that these are just the "updated" clouds, not the "new" clouds...so there is still cause for optimism! Just gotta give ED some time. Kayos Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 Hopefully the new clouds aren't far away. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
HorNet505 Posted October 6, 2019 Posted October 6, 2019 +1 I even noticed it in Prepar3d and it seems to be connected to the calculated position of clouds compared to your head. Clouds should be locked to the ground somehow. No idea if anyone even cared to patch this :-( Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS + Pedals (AB-detent Mod, Stick extension Mod) HTC Cosmos VR Track IR ---------- Intel i9-9900K 64GB Ram GeForce RTX 2080 Ti
Gryzor Posted October 6, 2019 Posted October 6, 2019 Nowadays DCS is incredible in nearly all aspects, but clouds are the worst in comparison with ALL other sims (no names... but honestly, there are NO sim nowadays with worse clouds or weather). Weather, or at least, decent clouds, would be a TOP priority. At least fixing 2-3 years bugs (clouds disappearing & stuttering & not sync in MP)

It's just the planes that are awesome.
Fri13 Posted October 6, 2019 Posted October 6, 2019 I think DCS is behind in every aspect ( scenery, clouds, airports, weather, VR ) then any other flight sim. It's just the planes that are awesome. The sad thing is that the scenery got just updated by the long period development of the EDGE graphics engine, and then all their maps has been under development for very long periods based to that EDGE. So we are not going to see nothing major unless EDGE can start supporting a lot of random generated ground elements like rocks, bushes, taller grass, small lakes etc etc. And I don't mean random that every player see different things, but that the map developer has a random generated brush that they can use to paint the scenery easily and quickly while checking that all goes about right. The clouds has not received any update because if ED is now doing serious long period development for whole weather system starting from moisture simulation etc, then not much is getting to be changed, even when considering that fixing a such sprite clouds could be simple task to someone. But thinking that lots should change in short time period (I would give 12-24 months really) considering the DCS age already, there is now more pressure for them to do so. And this is something what I would accept completely, a fictional maps that just looks realistic. And even more fictional towns, cities etc that are semi-correctly based on some similar real world locations. i7-8700k, 32GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 2x 2080S SLI 8GB, Oculus Rift S. i7-8700k, 16GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 1080Ti 11GB, 27" 4K, 65" HDR 4K.
razo+r Posted October 6, 2019 Posted October 6, 2019 Clouds have been in development since DCS 1.5, and if you enabled them in the files, you could see the new clouds. I made a few videos back then with the new WIP clouds, which looked quite good (for me). But now with 2.5, they changed the clouds and they look worse (In my opinion).
