Nosferatuwhisky 1-1 Posted February 22, 2018 Posted February 22, 2018 (edited) As I’m sure many if not all of you saw in the Hornet thread. What airfield will serve as your first point of departure and what music will accompany you in the air? I’m thinking I might use Kutasai since I’ve got all my planes set up for cold starts on a fall afternoon with some targets at the abandoned airfield on the coast. Clear skies with a little bit of a crossways headwind over the active runway, 26 I think it is. Thinking some Righteous Brothers. Edited February 22, 2018 by Nosferatu[whisky 1-1] Typos due to typing whilst on a train. "Chops"

As for music I think I would start by listening to the provided album.
Swordsman422 Posted February 22, 2018 Posted February 22, 2018 Airfield? Like, on the land? Where the zoomies fly out of? Ha! Whatever CATOBAR carrier is available. And probably blasting some Moondragon while I'm at it. Maybe this track. 1
Nosferatuwhisky 1-1 Posted February 22, 2018 Author Posted February 22, 2018 I’m not taking the Cat or Hornet near a arresting cable until I’m fairly competent with the bird. "Chops"
RaceFuel85 Posted February 22, 2018 Posted February 22, 2018 Whatever field Cobra and company put the cold start training mission.. On my own? Probably Nellis on the NTTR map at sunset.
Dino Might Posted February 23, 2018 Posted February 23, 2018 Not really sure why there is a ? associated with the title. Carrier, Highway to the Dangerzone. Its the only option.
IceFire Posted February 23, 2018 Posted February 23, 2018 Carrier, mighty wings ! Or....<shifty eyes> I could play some Queen "One Vision" just because its truly epic flying music. Yes yes I know it's from Iron Eagle but damn it I love that movie ! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Matt "IceFire" Schuette Commander In Chief United States Atlantic Command Virtual Carrier Air Wing Eleven
Bad Idea Hat Posted February 23, 2018 Posted February 23, 2018 Tonopah on NTTR, the very first time. I have to echo the sentiment that I don't want anything to do with a trap until I can prove to myself that I can consistently bring it in, centerline and on slope at Tonopah Test Range. Carrier, mighty wings ! Or....<shifty eyes> I could play some Queen "One Vision" just because its truly epic flying music. Yes yes I know it's from Iron Eagle but damn it I love that movie ! Top Gun had the better airplane, and everyone loves The Danger Zone, but I'm of the opinion that Iron Eagle had the better soundtrack.

Buzzles Posted February 23, 2018 Posted February 23, 2018 Batumi. Grieg - In the Hall of the Mountain King. If I time it right, leaving the runway when the crescendo reaches its peak. Either that or Berlin's Take My Breath Away, just for the Top Gun cheese. Fancy trying Star Citizen? Click here!
dFlow Posted February 23, 2018 Posted February 23, 2018 Groom Lake AFB in dawn danger zone is a must for the f14, but what has proven itself as good soundtrack in the viggens tape player is 'keep your eyes peeled' from QotSA
Sealpup Posted February 23, 2018 Posted February 23, 2018 Whatever carrier looks best, and 'First Flight' from the Ace Combat 5 soundtrack.
Nosferatuwhisky 1-1 Posted February 23, 2018 Author Posted February 23, 2018 I’m thinking of a little start up, taxi, takeoff play list. Unchained Melody by the Righteous Brothers You’ve lost that lovin feeling by the Right Brothers Sitting on the sick of the bay by otis Redding ( if needed ) Great Balls of Fire by Jerry lee Lewis long tall sally by Little Richard for taxiing Upon releasing the breaks and punching full burner I’ll kick in Danger Zone. "Chops"
Nosferatuwhisky 1-1 Posted February 25, 2018 Author Posted February 25, 2018 Now that I’m thinking about it, I may just put on the music by Meteor haha "Chops"
Sealpup Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 Now that I’m thinking about it, I may just put on the music by Meteor haha This is an acceptable course of action.
Airj247 Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 Batumi and the intro song to TopGun, and the same when I'm on the carrier for the first time And probably then the entire TopGun soundtrack while I fly. I was inverted B)
Winterz Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 Creech AFB or Tonopah AFB and the Tomcat's engines. :joystick:
Zeroskills Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 Using flightsims since many decades but can't imagine listening to (distracting) music while flying, or even in the menu. A contributing reason might be that listen to music while flying IRL is a definite no-go. Dumping drop tanks over populated cities, going supersonic 6m over a football stadium, using random cars and houses for target practice. With all the thing I do in game that are a no-no in real life listening to music is pretty far down the list. I will probably fire up the entire Top Gun soundtrack while the F-14 is downloading and launch off the nearest catapult as soon as possible.
Call911 Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 (edited) This...https://youtu.be/2xji5tRVxTI. Makes we wish I still had the original LP(album) of the soundtrack I bought in my teens. Edited February 27, 2018 by Call911
Swordsman422 Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 ...using random cars and houses for target practice. With all the thing I do in game that are a no-no in real life... Think again. Lol. https://www.f-117a.com/texas.html
Zeroskills Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 (edited) Think again. Lol. https://www.f-117a.com/texas.html Between bombing random houses and listening to music i never figured listening to music would be the less realistic option. Guess I'm a better sim pilot than I thought. Kinda puts my workplace screwups into perspective. Edited February 27, 2018 by Zeroskills
Wrench Posted March 3, 2018 Posted March 3, 2018 I'll be taking off from the Carl Vinson, for sure. I was going to say I'll listen to Meteor, which I certainly will, but I think I might have to start with dangerzone. That said, I can't decide between the theatrical version or the psychostick cover... Carrier Script.

All excellent choices. Long Tall Sally, in particular. Carrier Script.
