Hey all - I spent sometime this morning trying to find this answer but could not, but I thought I had seen acknowledgement/a thread on this before:

Deferred Shading obviously is not working correctly in relation to runway lights/LG lights/cockpit lights, ...lights in general! Is there any acknowledgement from ED on this that it is a bug/problem.

I tried flying with DS off... and well the game looks meh compared to it being on. Just curious if there is likely a long wait or not to see this get resolved.

Thanks!

WOW! My experience with Deffered Shading has been a disaster. To me, it looks bad, slow, ugly. It is really bad for me in Caucass. Trees in 2.5. To me trees are uniformly badly implemented in DCS 2.5, with or without Deffered Shade. I do not understand why ED has implemented tree density in such a way that only trees near the aircraft appear, and those grow out of the ground. The point of the LOD is for user not to notice element appearance. It does not at all work in 2.5

Trees grow out of the ground.

That is amusing to watch when flying low.....

A long wait - quite likely. The aforementioned problems have been with us since introduction of DS with v2.1 in May 2017. Noted? Certainly, after dozens of posts on the subject since then :D. Acknowledged as well, with standard "being addressed"-style info popping up every now and then in the Newsletters. When are we going to see the results is anyone's guess, though.

trees grow out of the ground.

setting tree visibility to 100 helps with that

if i fancy doing a night flight i turn it off

I'm torn between the better NVGs with DS and the ability to see cockpit switches and/or city/airport lights. Its worse when you have a long sortie that will straddle day/night hours... then what DS setting to choose?

Imho better with DS off

Use your Gamma slider from in-game options and play with it, it does help to some extend with some modules to read the buttons.

Lots of "some", I know, but better than nothing

DS is too nice to not have it turned on...oh well.

Too much some. DS stays off here until it is sorted out.
