Hoggorm Posted May 10, 2018 Posted May 10, 2018 Hi, When flying online I see that my GPU is not being utilized to the full potential at all times. Please see the following screenshot: I've been researching CPU temperature and usage, but it is within limits in addition to that sometime later the GPU is indeed running at 99%. It is somewhat frustration thought having 27FPS when the GPU is only at 59 and CPU at 43%... Any ideas? My computer specs are as follows: Intel Core i7-3820 Processor Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600MHz 16GB CL9 Corsair HX 850W PSU Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1070 WINDFORCE OC, 8GB GDDR5
Mr_sukebe Posted May 10, 2018 Posted May 10, 2018 Was that in 2.5.0? I found that 2.5.1 seems to making better use of my CPU and GPU capabilities. 7800x3d, 5080, 64GB, PCIE5 SSD - Oculus Pro - Moza (AB9), Virpil (Alpha, CM3, CM1 and CM2), WW (TOP and CP), TM (MFDs, Pendular Rudder), Tek Creations (F18 panel), Total Controls (Apache MFD), Jetseat
Hoggorm Posted May 10, 2018 Author Posted May 10, 2018 It is in the latest Open Beta. 2.5.1 I just stumble upon the Vsync setting and it appears to have an effect. Vsync On gives variable GPU usage well below 60 FPS. Vsync Off gives 98-99% GPU usage often above 80 FPS. But with tearing...
Scotch75 Posted May 10, 2018 Posted May 10, 2018 Try turning vsync off within DCS, and use FAST vsync in the nvidia control panel. See if that makes much of a difference. Hoggorm Posted May 11, 2018 Author Posted May 11, 2018 Try turning vsync off within DCS, and use FAST vsync in the nvidia control panel. See if that makes much of a difference. Indeed, it did :) With the settings suggested the GPU is now running at about 80-99% basically all the time. Framerate is above 60 in single player and somewhat less in multiplayer. Thank you. I think I'll go for this for now :)

I've tinkered around with those settings and was pleasantly surprised with the results for my medium spec rig. Cheers! wizav Posted May 11, 2018 Posted May 11, 2018 Bottleneck! I have bottleneck as well I just can't play with many objects on map (read: units) 7-10 planes for 60 stable FPS with NVIDIA Vsync on high preset It looks I have to buy new MB, CPU and RAM :/ [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Art-J Posted May 13, 2018 Posted May 13, 2018 More microstuttering here and there, as rendering-vs-displaying ratio of frames is all over the place, but whether it's a noticeable problem depends on subjective preferences. i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.
Elliottc26 Posted May 13, 2018 Posted May 13, 2018 if you haven't already, see about getting a 144hz monitor that has a 1ms response rate for higher FPS. 60hz = 60FPS max [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Gumbo's Flying Circus - Visit Twitch to Watch! Insonia Posted May 15, 2018 Posted May 15, 2018 Because thats how vsync works... GPU has to wait refresh before it can proceed next frame.
