wilbur81 Posted May 31, 2018 Posted May 31, 2018 This may be to be expected given the greater level of detail/functionality, but I just wanted to get others' feedback... I have a 25 to 30 FPS drop in the hornet cockpit compared to the F-15 cockpit (60 ish in the -15 and 30 ish in the -18C). Same exact mission, cockpit zoom level, and settings (with the Res of Cockpit displays option set at "512 Every Frame.") Seems like a pretty extreme difference? Anyone else? Of course, it's EA. i7 8700K @ Stock - Win11 64 - 64gb RAM - RTX 3080 12gb OC
TheWalrus Posted May 31, 2018 Posted May 31, 2018 I'm seeing a similar level of performance drop for the hornet. About 20-30 frames less compared to the F-15 for example. I think you're right in that it's just the price of such a good looking cockpit :)
mr_mojo97 Posted May 31, 2018 Posted May 31, 2018 Yeah, in the cold and dark startup mission I get only 15 fps - it's an awful feeling MSI M5 z270 | Intel i5 7600k (OC) 4.8GHz | MSI GTX1080ti Gaming X 11Gb | 500gb Samsung 970 Evo NVME M.2 (DCS World) | 500gb Samsung 850 Evo SSD (OS and Apps) | 32Gb 2400MHz DDR4 - Crucial Ballistix | Be Quiet Silent Loop 240mm | NZXT H440 case | Thrustmaster Warthog - 47608 with Virpil Mongoose joystick base | MFG Crosswinds - 1241 | Westland Lynx collective with Bodnar X board | Pilot's seat from ZH832 Merlin | JetSeat | Oculus Rift S | Windows 10 | VA |
ED Team NineLine Posted May 31, 2018 ED Team Posted May 31, 2018 Its known that static Lot 20 Hornets cause a drop, its being looked at. If those are in your view that can cause an issue, otherwise I havent seen an issue. As always, a track that we can try where you see the drop is very helpful. wilbur81 Posted May 31, 2018 Author Posted May 31, 2018 Thanks, NL. I just created a mission with one aircraft (player F-15 or Hornet), nothing else. I just alternated between the Eagle and the Hornet in that single jet/empty map (PG map, though the performance exists on the other maps, too) regime in order to test the FPS as I was suspicious after flying the Hornet around in other scenarios. i7 8700K @ Stock - Win11 64 - 64gb RAM - RTX 3080 12gb OC
Ragnar65 Posted May 31, 2018 Posted May 31, 2018 Can confirm that drop! Other modules 60 - 70 FPS, down to 40 FPS, in the Hornet i have 25 - 35 FPS... F-15 is a low-fidelity module though, might be better to compare the A-10C. Generally my FPS are solid, I lock at 60 though. wizav Posted May 31, 2018 Posted May 31, 2018 (edited) I have mid-range specs, got 50 fps on ground with few other planes, 60+ (AIR) over the ground and sea. Settings: HIGH preset except: visib=medium, terrain shadows = off & cockpit 512 (every frame) @1080p No problems. Edited May 31, 2018 by wizav [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
DracoLlasa Posted May 31, 2018 Posted May 31, 2018 i am not sure if you are reporting an overall low FPS or an occasional drop. i get a very good ~60+ FPS but when in flight if my mirrors are enabled it will drop fairly frequently down to 15-25 or so.. if i disable the mirrors (even in flight) the drop occasional fps drop stops happening. awjudge Posted June 1, 2018 Posted June 1, 2018 I can report the same issue. It's not game-breaking for me, but my FPS in the F18 pit are significantly worse than other modules. It does seem to improve when I'm out over the ocean or away from an airfield.

I'm reporting overall FPS. And I don't use mirrors in either jet. A-10C has better FPS as well in cockpit (mirrors off). i7 8700K @ Stock - Win11 64 - 64gb RAM - RTX 3080 12gb OC

Jakko Posted June 1, 2018 Posted June 1, 2018 Made a simple mission on caucasus map. Put some client F-18s in there and 2 carriers. No static objects. Host that mission on a dedicated server. Being just me on the server everything runs fine. 45fps (ASW) sitting in the cockpit on Anapa. As soon as a 2nd client jumps into a F-18 and spawns beside me I get a massive fps loss. Now getting about 22 fps. It seems the fps comes back when the second F-18 departs and is no longer visible. Have not tried with other aircrafts. When joining a server with multiple players I partly come off to 9fps. This did not happend before the F-18 update. No changes to the graphic settings. Specs: i5 3750k @4.3Ghz, GTX 1080TI, 32Gb DDR3, SSD, Rift CV1 Wanted - about 30fps Reward - a big THX
NineGravity Posted June 1, 2018 Posted June 1, 2018 Other aircraft gets 60+FPS Hornet gets low than 30FPS,by the way, same place
wilbur81 Posted June 3, 2018 Author Posted June 3, 2018 Other aircraft gets 60+FPS Hornet gets low than 30FPS,by the way, same place Same here. Are you flying with 4K (or anything higher than 1080p)? i7 8700K @ Stock - Win11 64 - 64gb RAM - RTX 3080 12gb OC
Deano87 Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 I'm also getting pretty terrible FPS in the Hornet compared to the A-10, Mirage and Harrier. I was expecting it to be worse as it's clearly got a lot of stuff going on in the background but I'm down to high 20s at time which in the rift isn't really comfortable. For reference the A10 and harrier are always above 45fps. Usually above 60. 4790K 1080GTX Proud owner of: PointCTRL VR : Finger Trackers for VR -- Real Simulator : FSSB R3L Force Sensing Stick. -- Deltasim : Force Sensor WH Slew Upgrade -- Mach3Ti Ring : Real Flown Mach 3 SR-71 Titanium, made into an amazing ring. DflippinK Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 FPS are always locked at 60 for me... and i usually gauge performance by observing CPU/GPU loads and utilization... while i did not perform any conclusive testing,.. i did notice a higher CPU load after the second update to 2.5.2.18144 in the Hornet... it seems to have taken some of the load off of the second utilized core, and applied it to the primary core... again.. i did not officially test this... but i do believe i have accurately observed it.. Unfortunately, it seems to be putting a rather high load on the primary core now as compared to the previous update.. this is all on the Caucasus map BTW...
