Firebird1955 Posted June 26, 2018 Posted June 26, 2018 Trying to taxi to to Cat 1.... approach the cat shuttle, trying to be precise but the jet is sliding around like it's Jell-O on Jello-O. Doing this from F2 to get it laser sharp. Put down the bar. Hit U Aircraft pops a wheelie. I go back to F1 and there's a warning I can't clear. End track https://drive.google.com/open?id=1P79-LPqCGuGUQW1oETSsiGq5aESLiJ-u I had this same issue when I first started Carrier ops in DCS, and I also had the same issue in P3D using the super hornet. While I cannot verify why it stopped, it stopped when I stopped holding brakes on when pressing the U key. Could be coincidence but I didnt change anything else. etienne1968 Posted June 27, 2018 Posted June 27, 2018 [ALREADY REPORTED] Carrier Ops by windy conditions Hi gents, Sticking to Lex Talionis awesome instructions pertaining to naval Ops, I make the boat steaming at 25 Knots to generate a significant relative wind in order to to practice a realistic Case I recovery pattern. But taxiing the Hornet on the deck is messed up by windy conditions. The amount of thrust used to put the aircraft in motion is surrealistic. Anyone to report the same experience ?
bradleyjs Posted June 27, 2018 Posted June 27, 2018 I believe the windy taxi issue has already been reported. bkthunder Posted June 29, 2018 Posted June 29, 2018 [ALREADY REPORTED] Sliding on deck with carrier speed above 25 kts Try to taxi around on the carrier, I set mine at 27 kts (a normal speed for flight ops) and the airplane is nearly uncotrollable when it's perpendicular to the wind / ship heading. Either the tyres have too little grip, or the airplane wind vanes too much. Esac_mirmidon Posted June 29, 2018 Posted June 29, 2018 I recommend 20 knots for the Carrier and 5 knots of wind = 25 Knots Anything over 20 Knots makes very hard to taxi on the deck. speed-of-heat Posted November 21, 2018 Posted November 21, 2018 I have similar symptoms on airfields, e.g. I have to get the engines well over 75% RPM before I will achieve any forward motion at all, tried in the taxi training mission, wasn't until I broke about 80 to 82% RPM I got any forward momentum?
