Apologize for the ignorance when it comes to the 23MLA, but where is the radar located in the cockpit. Every image I search out, it looks like the 23mla has no radar. Is it displayed on the HUD?

Yes, its displayed in the HUD.

Yes i believe so.

The only time I've seen something like an attempt to portray the MiG-23 HUD Radar mode, was in the gone days of "Free Falcon 5" sim.

And let me tell you... what a complete mess with many kinds of symbology all cluttered in a cramped HUD. :D

Yes it was a sim, so I don't know how realistically it depicted real life, but even so it was NOT "user friendly".

For those interested how looks inside MiG-23's inertial platform

Yes - similar, however both the MiG-29 and the Su-27 feature a much more organized and less cluttered HUD symbology.

...

Yekaterinburg... home of Pavel Fedulev, interesting.

I said from radar simbology, and 23 not have HUD, it is gun sight ASP-17 (see more Su-25) where add same features (radar simbology)

(HUD is a way of saying.)

Again, I'm refering to the impression I've had at that sim, as I've never seen images of it in real life.

Would by chance it be something like the pic below (from CombatAce site), for example ?

No, you can see combat indication for AA-mode In Mig/Su fighters in DCS, AG-mode in Su-25 in DCS. TO/landing/flight indication absent

СЕИ(СЕИ-23) stands for Joint Indication System

What bothers me is "Strobe Control" ministick on the weapon panel. Is it for Lock On cursor which is on the control stick on the MiG-29? If so its super inconvenient!

Ah glorious soviet electronics! How I've learned to hate repairing them.

will be nice having two version of the Mig23, an early Mig-23M or MS, just in case someone in cold war server, or campaigns of cold war, filter manufacture date limite 70s or 1972, or 1974, so we can still use the Mig-23 against the Phantom, and not only have the Mig-19 for that filter. just saying.

Definitely not possible. Still you can always limit the missiles to K-13. And countermeasure dispensers are part of the loadout and are bolt-on.

Have they said anything about implementing the Vozdukh-1 Lazur datalink?

I believe it was present on the Mig-21 Mig-23 and Early Mig-29.

If they could get it working on their Mig-23 module we might see it come to other aircraft as well. I think that would be pretty cool.

It was seen on the early cockpit renders. But its just channels setup panel and director needles on the instruments. My main concern is who would give you those directions. For this we need a human interface and an AI bot to have a Combat Control Officer(for VVS) or Intercept Navigator(for PVO) role. Basically, for RedFor, you have a RIO too, he's just couple of hundreds km away.

If that would be the same guy who's handling radio GCI so far, I'd rather fly without it. With parts of the canopy blacked out, if need be.

What does the MiG-23MLA have going for it that it can stand up against the F-14 and F/A-18? and when the F-16 comes?

It's piloted by brave men of the motherland, as opposed to capitalist mercenaries. Aside from that, not much.

Nothing. But it would fit in better against 70s era western air like the F4 should we ever get those modules. And technically the F14A would be a historic adversary, though it would outmatch it, even if you took the aim54s off.
