I didn't put F-22 or F-35 or any of the VERY new aircraft because they are the fifth gen untested totally over priced play toys of the USAF. People will have pointless arguments about them.

Why include the Typhoon, then? Unlike the F-22-it's not been deployed. I think there a couple of squadrons receiving Typhoons but they are -not- in active duty.

Let me put this way:

Your going to choose a plane to go to war. You will either pick a plane that is on parity with the oposition or you want to go there with as much an advantage you can get so your risk of not returning home is minimized?

I would choose the later. its a question how much your government is willing to spend for your safe return and achieve successful missions.

That's answering the question of what is the best fighter in terms of performance, but in terms of "deployability, cost, combat effectiveness etc" then I would say the F18E, especially seeing as its light years ahead of anything western forces have come up against and will come up against in the foreseeable future. Realistically by the time any adversary has anything close to the Super Bugg unmanned drones will probably be outperforming F22's.

The Hornet has it all and the twin engine gives you the ability for extremely low level CAS missions where if you get one engine shot out you can still make it home .... And the hook on the tail really sets it apart from the rest ;) .

And dare I mention this ;) lol

I believe RAF 17® Sqn started recieving Typhoon's back in 2003. Followed by 29 ® Sqn.

Then April 2006 No 3 (F) Sqn formed as the first front-line Typhoon sqn they were then joined by No XI(F) Squadron last month. Typhoons have been passed through as multi-role ready and will be taking over from Tornado's as Quick Reaction Alert shortly if not already.

Yep ! an F18 guns kill on an F22 :D I had a link to a forum where some USN and USAF pilots were arguing over the relevancy of the kill and things got pretty heated .. damn though I cant find it right now

It's not a kill. It's a snapshot and it doesn't count - snapshots are notoriously low-pk ;) It also shows the superbug violating the training bubble.

A lucky shot doesn't mean a whole lot other than that someone got lucky you know. How many F-18E's did this F-22 eat before an F-18E even got a snapshot on him? ;)

IIRC, the conclusion was that Chuck Norris must have been piloting that Hornet.

I doubt it.

Nice, As much as i like the raptor, it's good to see the underdogs beat up on the bully, so to speek. (kinda like the last 3 red sox games! :D)

For me, top 3 are Typhoon - Super Hornet - Viper Block 52+

I'm really interested what an A2A exercise between Polish AF F-16's and German Typhoons would give.

The right name is an Aviator. A US Navy Aviator. It's another name for a superior pilot. ;) Man, I think the USAF must hate that picture :D

And I'm sure about 10 seconds later said aviator got its ass blown off by the same Raptor. :D

He got his ass blown away by the mission lead or his commander for violating training protocol in the debriefing - though undoubtedly he got pats on the back behind the scenes too.

There were many dead hornets before that ever hapened. ;)

Just imagine you make 1 kill online but the next 400 ones you magicaly die with an ET on your face without warning. Would you like those odds? :D

Besides the Eurofighter will be brought to large numbers enought not to make it a rich mans toy. Infact its price tag wont be very different either. Further more the tiphie can (or will) be able to do everything the Superbug will (maybe except landing on carriers) but better. It will have better missiles, not to mention that the bug looks underpowered next to it. My vote still on the EF2000. :)

Another thing about that image: What it doesn't show (because it is only a single frame) is that the pipper went across the F-22 in just 2/3rd of a second. It's a very low-pk shot, and even if it didn't miss, realistically speaking, there's a pretty good chance that this F-22 would come right back and teach that superbug a few short but painful lessons.

Anyway until now you don’t get a picture of a ef2k being in an embarrassed situation like that :D

My vote was for the Eurofighter Typhoon of course…

BTW: there was a sequence of pictures showing that the superbug owned the raptor completely (180° flipping)

You better find that sequence then ;)

And yeah , the ef2k hasn't had the opportunity to get embarrassed yet, or if it did ... no one's leaking.

"superior pilot" I like the way you think  .. Yep they probably do hate that pic and they give the same arguments we've seen here i.e how many bugs it took, low PK shot etc all of which are valid of course but no one really knows what took place during that exercise and I don't think it was confirmed that the F18 pilot did break any rules .. was it? I remember some USAF pilots saying the same thing but it was refuted by the Navy guys IIR but I could be wrong. Anyway what it does show is that an F18 got close enough to an F22 to select Guns and that's cool no matter which way you cut it :P .. Superhornet all the way :pilotfly:

Yes, it was confirmed. The training bubble is 1000'. In the frame after the one you posted, it's 900. ;) It's a bubble violation, though not a gross one.

And I can tell you what didn't take place: A tracking shot. They had to post a snapshot, and a poor one at that. ;)

Also 'got close enough' is not an issue - it was a guns fight. The F-22 pilot made the mistake of flying through the superbug's HUD, and got punished by becoming famous (infamous? :D)

Ah whats a little altitude anyway :P .. Bug Bights Bird .. sounds good to me!! Anyway I think he did the same thing that "Viper" did in TopGun :megalol:
