Victory205 Posted July 23, 2018 Posted July 23, 2018 What is external lights config for carrier landing (for day and for night)? Lights off on deck at night, NAV and beacon lights on when ready to launch on cat. After trap, coming to a stop, lights off. Landing light always off. Taxing at night not on cat, lights on means brake failure. Day, all lights off. Fly Pretty, anyone can Fly Safe.
maxTRX Posted July 23, 2018 Posted July 23, 2018 Also, there are 3 small AOA indicator lights on the front of the nose gear strut that are activated when the gear is down and weight is off. These are for the LSOs, they can see them when the jets are in the groove. I've never checked them in DCS Hornet, not sure if these are modeled yet.
joey45 Posted July 23, 2018 Posted July 23, 2018 Yeas they are modeled. The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. Nealius Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 Just to clarify: Landing light, position lights, and anti-collision lights should be off during all traps and deck movement, day and night?
arkroyale048 Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 I want that nice streetlamp like soft orange glow implemented as deck lighting. Irregular streamer: http://www.twitch.tv/arkroyale048/profile
Hog_No32 Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 (edited) Just to clarify: Landing light, position lights, and anti-collision lights should be off during all traps and deck movement, day and night? Nope, from what I read I believe it is like that: (applies to carrier ops only) Landing lights: always OFF Nav Lights and Strobes: ON during landing UNTIL just after trapping OFF during all taxi (except in the emergency case of a brake failure, substituting hook down in daytime ops) ON when hooked on the cat and ready for launch (substituting the salute during daytime ops) Edited July 24, 2018 by Hog_No32
Nealius Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 Got it. That video shows it well too. They cut the lights as soon as the aircraft stops after trapping. I wonder what the protocol for formation lights is as well. I see a couple jets in that video landed with the form lights still on.

They are controlled by same pinky switch on throttle as all exterior lights. Fly Pretty, anyone can Fly Safe.
DDSSTT Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 Hi, why DCS:FA-18C Hornet`s formation and position lights dont shine at night? For me, it shines only in day...when Im flying at nighttime, they dont shine. Very strange, it should be inverse. Maybe a bug? That's a question a lot of us are asking and wondering...
