Witchking Posted May 21, 2007 Posted May 21, 2007 devs! could you tweak the missile flame a bit? I mean many that I have seen in real pics is all like red and orange, white and yellow. I know I dont have a exact pic to show...but the one in lomac is just white and yellow ... and I don't know if that initial "BURST of a lot of jet trail..as u can see in the last pic up here" is realistic... IMO! I don't like it...but its no biggy. :p WHISPR | Intel I7 5930K | Nvidia GTX980 4GB GDDR5 | 16GB DDR4 | Intel 730 series 512GB SSD | Thrustmaster WARTHOG | CH Pro Pedals | TrackIR4 pro | |A-10C|BS2 |CA|P-51 MUSTANG|UH-1H HUEY|MI-8 MTV2 |FC3|F5E|M2000C|AJS-37|FW190|BF 109K|Mig21|A-10:SSC,EWC|L-39|NEVADA|
EscCtrl Posted May 21, 2007 Posted May 21, 2007 Surely it depends what moment you take the picture? I presume it could flash quite brightly during the ignition stage and depending on the conditions glow as bright as in the game for awhile?

It should help ED in future projects or even BS. topic link http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=22935
porky Posted May 21, 2007 Posted May 21, 2007 Wow....brilliant model. I dunno how they got the polys low enough with that detailing, great job  Also, if you're mad about details, then feast your eyes (have patience). Now give em another feast. That guy is insane :D

Conuk Posted May 21, 2007 Posted May 21, 2007 If you're rig can run Lock On V1.02, IMO, it shouldn't have much of a problem with FC. Honestly. All models are built with LODs so the only way it can have a noticeable effect on FPS is if you're looking at 15 of them close up on your screen (which is unlikely). If it helps, I've been doing a lot of beta testing on my laptop - 1.73 Chz Intel Mobile processor with an X300 graphics card, and it more than suffices for low settings (can crank up some parameters to "medium"). My PC, a P4 3.2 Gig, 1 Gb 533 Mhz RAM and X800XL, didn't suffer ANY performance loss from V1.1 to the current betas - I retain all my previous settings as before. Again, because of the implementation of LODs, the practical effect on performance is negligible except in certain extreme circumstances (e.g. a situation where 10 models rendered with their most detailed LOD). So basically, the sum it up - PERSONALLY speaking - the new models didn't noticeably hurt my performance until I was looking for ways for it to do so. Good to see - otherwise ill have to rob another bank for more processors ;)

Witchking Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 don't think they fixed the AA on self shadows. But still personally its no biggy. I rather have them spend time on improving other stuff like infantry and ME. spugnut Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 Self shadowing is hard to get right. I would guess that they are using the shadow mapping technique rather than shadow volumes. To get it pixel perfect you have to use floating point textures.. and because you can't be sure the target platform will have support, and if you can't dynamically compile your shaders from hlsl - you have to go with what you can. The break up of shadows into seperate apparent units is just caused by the lack of resolution in the depth channel of the texture generated. But hey, aren't those models looking beautiful? *getting excited again* Lt. Commander Block: Every aerial photo and recon report indicate a defensive arsenal in the D, and perhaps negative C, categories. There's also some anti-aircraft squadrons. Admiral Benson: I don't have a clue what you're talkin' about, Phil. Not a clue. I have a shell the size of a fist in my head. Pork Chop Hill. The only way I can make this toupee to stay on is by magnetizing the entire upper left quadrant of my skull, so you just go ahead and do what you do.
Witchking Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 yup! the models are wicked! thats why I said ..it doesn't matter... self shadowing is no biggy! The big part is infantry. :D WHISPR | Intel I7 5930K | Nvidia GTX980 4GB GDDR5 | 16GB DDR4 | Intel 730 series 512GB SSD | Thrustmaster WARTHOG | CH Pro Pedals | TrackIR4 pro | |A-10C|BS2 |CA|P-51 MUSTANG|UH-1H HUEY|MI-8 MTV2 |FC3|F5E|M2000C|AJS-37|FW190|BF 109K|Mig21|A-10:SSC,EWC|L-39|NEVADA|
